Monday afternoon coach search update

North Texas continued to move toward making a final decision on who its next coach will be on Monday afternoon.

The focus of UNT’s search for the last few days has been TCU co-offensive coordinator Doug Meacham and North Carolina assistant head coach for offense Seth Littrell.

A source close to several UNT veteran players said late Sunday night that Meacham would be offered the job and would take over the program.

The process has taken several twists and turns since that have led multiple industry sources to believe that Meacham will not take over at UNT.

It would seem as if all these "sources" are not on the same page.  By his account, Cumbie will not be going to UT and Meacham will be coming here.

TCU appears to be willing to invest in Cumbie so he doesn't leave, not sure why Meacham would stay....

We now have zero leverage if this is true. Littrell(if he is indeed a finalist) can pretty much ask for 5 or 6 years and we will give it to him at this point. If Litrell falls through then Hello Bruce Chambers and Goodbye program.

I don't think the leverage part is true, all we have is speculation from Vito, I doubt deals will be done on it. I also would not worry about Littrell wanting more than a 5 year contract, 5 year contracts are the most common I believe. If he is good he will be gone in 5 years  or less.

When was this posted?  Completely goes against what Vito just posted.
