They will be heavily favored by most but I think our defense may surprise them.

Their D is very questionable when you look at total yards. Bowling +400 LaTech + 600 yards. The passing attack should play to our strength in the secondary. Put pressure on the qb!!!!!!!! GMG

We are 15.5 point dogs to MTSU at home.

Too many points I think.

It's tough to know.  MUTS' win against LaTech was pretty solid, but their other FBS win was against a bad Bowling Green team.

I think they're still a little too much for us, but I think we can keep it under a 2 TD margin.

Watching their press conferences from yesterday, MTSU media still seems abuzz about their comeback win against LT.  They play WKU next week.  After killing us last week there's a decent chance they may over look us.

Stockstill (senior and son) both talked about how they are seeing a lot of man coverage against them because they are short on numbers at receiver due to injuries.

Our three keys to success against the MUTS:

1.  Pressure on Stockstill, the QB not the coach, is a must.  Change our looks up front and disguise coverage.

2.  Stop their RB, don't recall his name, that beat out Wilson for player of the week.  He has put up huge numbers.

3.  Our OL has got to give Fine time.

Stop showing where the blitz is coming from so early in the play clock.

Have to get pressure from the nose tackle...hopefully drawing double teams

3.  Our OL has got to give Fine time.

And he has to have a quicker clock in his head.   A few of the sacks against Rice were from holding the football

I remember one year when a a heavily favored MUTS team came to Denton and got beat by a team that had no business beating them. Then the team that had no business beating that team went on to win the conference.

Don't know how "sexy" this MUTS team is though.....that team was AWFULLY sexy

We know we're in Small Steps mode, but nothing says we can't have an upset now & then.

➡️ Just think, if the football gods smiled down upon us at amazing Apogee Stadium this Saturday & we won---we'd only be "3" more wins from being bowl eligible & most bowl officials know by now how well our fans travel even out of the state of Texas.

I'm still totally impressed by the almost 37,000 Mean Green fans we had at the HOD BOwl game on 1/1/2014.  (Now if we'd only had that Big 10 opponent)? ???

GMG!

The North Texas football team was able to pin Middle Tennessee with its first loss of the season Saturday, knocking off the Blue Raiders 24-21.

The outing was the Mean Green’s 200th all-time home victory and brought its Sun Belt Conference record to 1-1.

Leading 24-14 heading into the fourth quarter, North Texas was able to hold Middle Tennessee to just seven points over the final 15 minutes of action to capture its first-ever Sun Belt Conference win.

Trailing 24-21, the Blue Raiders final offensive possession was ended when UNT’s Darrell Daniels sacked quarterback Wes Counts at the Middle Tennessee 19 yard line with 2:16 remaining in the game. The Mean Green was able to convert a fouth down with 46 seconds remaining in the game to seal the victory.

The Mean Green scored the first 14 points of the game off of a six-yard run by Ja’Mel Branch and a five yard strike from quarterback Scott Hall to tight end Randy Gardner. Middle Tennessee didn’t get on the scoreboard until the 4:48 mark of the second quarter when Counts connected with Kendall Newson on an eight-yard touchdown pass. The Blue Raiders pulled within a touchdown of the Mean Green, but Jason Ball made a 42-yard field goal to extend the North Texas lead to 24-14 with 6:26 left in the third quarter.

A North Texas comeback fell just short as the Mean Green dropped its first-ever Sun Belt Conference football game at Louisiana-Monroe 19-17. With the loss, North Texas dropped to 0-5 this season, its worst beginning since 1982 when it started 0-5 before winning against Texas-Arlington en route to a 2-9 season.Aided by a career-high 144 yard rushing performance from Kevin Galbreath, North Texas rushed for a season-high 216 yards. The Mean Green was able to hold a Middle Tennessee offense that was averaging 557 yards per game to a season-low 294 yard.

Nah I say put pressure on the coach. They won't have practiced for that.

This.  Fine had to be ready to run on the 1st possession.  It took us too long to adjust.  The offense was better once he started making plays with his feet.

We are going to have some adjustments and we are going to practice some plays that we feel are going to be successful.  They are going to work in practice.   No matter what we tweak, Fine is not going to have time to throw and he needs to start the game with the mentality that he will have to make quick decisions and he may have to run to open things up.
