UCONN is only getting some Big12 attention because of their 5 National Championships in basketball and their location in the NE.  Gonzaga has also been named.  But UCONN's lousy football keeps being mentioned as the reason they won't get serious consideration as a full member, perhaps basketball-only.   Basketball alone won't get us to the next level.

UCONN is getting consideration as a full member per this article from 3 hours ago, as well as many sources on Twitter.

Just not ahead of the current PAC schools per this article. https://www.cbssports.com/college-football/news/big-12-expansion-conference-prefers-to-add-one-more-school-after-colorado-with-arizona-seen-as-favorite/amp/ Per the CBS article, the key seems to be that ESPN/FOX are favoring the addition of current P5 schools: "ESPN and Fox have agreed to pay Colorado -- and reportedly any other Power Five addition to the Big 12 -- equal value, which means an extra $190 million paid out per team over those six years."

The issue will be numbers. The BIG12 apparently wants an even number of schools but if they only get AZ and AZ state, that will leave them at 15 and room for 1 more.

Don't want to keep hijacking this thread but I said basketball could set us up in the next 10 years, not right now. It's what has UCONN in the conversation with an independent football program. Basketball and the NE market is getting them BIG12 attention. There's no reason why basketball and Texas can't get us P5 attention in the next 10 years if it's actively working for them.

Anyways, back to enjoying this semifinal game.

It’s crazy how confident I always feel about guys involved in our basketball culture over the last several years.  Always feels like we are destined to win, especially in clutch moments.  So grateful for that.  Hopefully that continues and also begins to translate to football too.
