Will Kuehne Enters the transfer portal

UNT QB Will Kuehne has officially entered the NCAA portal.  Kuehne graduated in 2.5 years with honors from the Brint Ryan School of Business with a degree in Finance.  He will be pursuing a Master degree in Sports Management.

Will has been a great student, player and teammate and we wish him only the best.

Dang, I figured the QB room was too crowded and someone was going to leave but hate that it was Will. He seemed to bleed Mean Green!

Perhaps, once he gets his degree; he can come back to NT in an administrative or coaching role.

The Ivy league does not give athletic ships

Their aid is based on financial needs,  somehow I think Kuene is not going to qualify

My goal was to graduate from UNT with a Marketing Degree in 2-1/2 Years.  I did but it took me two times.

Right.  I guess I meant that he gets a spot on a team from a school that will push him academically to his max potential.

Sorry to hear it--here's someone who grew up a North Texas fan then had the opportunity to play at his dream school.  But I certainly understand, and wish Will all the best.

Like, should I be surprised if someone enters the portal first week of October?

At first I thought if you graduated you could leave so long as the school you are at allows it.  On second thought I think the NCAA may have to approve a waiver.  I'm not sure honestly.

Based on timing I would guess the start of classes. I wonder this late if he already has a school lined up?

I wish all of the threads of players transferring were this positive. Attitude towards the student athlete and the transfer portal usually looks a lot different, and much less favorable. 

Just like a lot of those cases, it looks like a really sensible move and Kuehne represented us very well while here. Looked like we might get Chase Griffin in 2019 then he chose UCLA, we moved on to Kuehne and he committed and held firm. Wishing him the best.

You can enter the portal any of the 365 days of the year. In order to be eligible to take advantage of the NCAA’s sit-out free transfer rule, an athlete would have needed to be in the portal by July 1st, unless they are grad transferring like Kuehne.

Starting this upcoming school year, fall/winter athletes will need to be in the transfer portal by May 1st in order to be eligible to transfer without sitting out a year the next season.

Not surprised this happened. Don’t want to be the Debbie downer here, but from the stuff I saw about him a few weeks ago, this doesn’t shock me.
