Unless they already have someone pretty good lined up for the job, this is a dumb move.  You don't fire someone who just improved year over year by 10 games.

It's remarkable. Imagine us winning 20 games and firing our coach. That doesn't even fall into the realm of having or raising expectations. It's difficult to win 20 games regardless of your conference. Now, they'll be playing tougher comp next year and the new coach will know 20 is the barometer. A lot of looking over the shoulder. Good luck, buddy.

20 games won against nobody.  This isn't equivalent to even 10 wins in the AAC of 5 years ago.

Lanier isn't on track to get us back to Larry Brown success much less ACC level.

The NCAA has banned Southern Methodist University's men's basketball team from 2016 postseason play, and it has also suspended Hall of Fame coach Larry Brown for 30% of the team's game this season due to multiple rules violations, the NCAA announced Tuesday morning. Brown was hit with a "lack of coach control" charge, and other NCAA charges against the program include academic fraud and unethical conduct.

Ah, yes, those good old days with Larry Brown. And only a couple decades after SMU Basketball earned the much deserved DEATH PENALTY.

For those that don't remember, SMU earned the Death Penalty for Football, Men's Track & Field, and Men's Basketball. Even though SMU Men's Track & Field, and Men's Basketball both earned the Death Penalty, the incredibly kind and overly forgiving NCAA only imposed that Death Penalty on their Football program.   ***The entire SMU Athletics Program was already on probation and SMU Basketball earned the Death Penalty the moment that Center Jon Koncak admitted that the basketball players were also being paid.***

I mentioned several times in the season, that SMU was not very good and their coach would get s-canned. No surprise this move was made. You guys are going into the premier hoops league in the country, ya'll better get it right this time.
