What Should Be The New ADs First Order Of Business

What do you think the first order of business should be for Wren Baker after he starts on the job. There are a lot of things to clean up around here so he will be pretty busy. My opinion is that he needs to right the basketball ship first. We had a great thing going with JJ and should have built on his work only to have Benford come in and absolutely undo the progress that had been made. I think the ultimatum should be given to Benford from day one. WIN OR HIT THE ROAD. I wouldn't mind him showing Benford the door immediately but I fear it is too late in the game to get a capable coach before this season.

Benf is here for a season so that review can wait. I would like for him to meet with the letterman and the alumni like the consultants have done . What can be done now to increase attendance at football games this season. I think we can take for granted he will first review staff. I also believe there could be a good reason to keep Hank even if it initially for transition purposes. "F" potential!

Benford is here for next season and his record will decide if it is his last year.   Obviously, the first thing he has to do is put an effective staff together.  Throwing out the old and bringing in the new may make some happy, but that approach seldom works.   If he is as smart as I hope he is, he will take his time and delay those decisions till he has a basis for making them.  Having said that it would be unusual if he doesn't bring in a few key staff members early.

His first operational focus should be selling the approaching football season and filling up Apogee.

1. Put together his staff. Who stays and who goes.

1a. Sit down with Littrell, Benford, and Mitchell to better understand what resources they need in order to be successful. Leave them no excuses for failure.

1b. Figure out how to increase attendance, season ticket holders, and donors.

Regarding his personal staff all I hope is Reggie Johnson is kept.  That man is a gem and he's the only person in the athletic department I will ever only speak to when I have questions or issues regarding my account and he always delivers.

Come in and meet everyone and start to determine what needs to be done.  He can not make rushed decisions.

1. Market SMU game .. It has to be a sell-out, no excuses.

2. Meet the students...

3. Meet the alumni....

4. Meet the community..

5. Other items as they present and are needed.
