Unfortunately this comment by the head coach at UNT is going to appear defeatist and will do nothing to motivate students, fans or players. Wish it had been some other school’s head coach. Awful publicity for UNT.

Well as a post script to my above… I renewed before Friday ended. My son and I will be chowing down on hot dogs and drinking cold ones once again. I was kind of hoping this HSO thread would help me get over the hump and renew the two season tickets I’ve had since the days of dirt at Fouts Field and the old cement urinals there. You’re right about it being two good teams that brought the crowd out - but BOTH of these universities and their fans want to get top billing in the Metroplex and thump their chests as such. This year UNT won the LOCAL THRILLA’ IN MANILA . So for now the Mean Green faithful can brag and that’s what makes it fun.

When Grant McCasland left as we knew he would I was resigned to appreciate the tremendous run the Mean Green basketball program just had BUT, I was ready for the usual 5 to 6 year drought that usually historically follows. BUT DAMN, NOT THIS TIME ! This UNT basketball program, players and coaches, are for real and it’s fun . Nuff said, GMG.

The vast majority of these college players will NEVER see the light of day in the NFL or NBA. If we completely drop the focus of getting a viable education will we not then just be paying kids to play ball in college and then go into the unemployment line ?

Really says it all. I think everyone of us in 106 have yelled “ hit someone and stop arm tackling .” It’s been that kind of season. Marcus Trice is gone and so are the Big Bang hits.

My son and I have been in 106 since Apogee opened. Great seats. We have very good full field view and we don’t lose any down field play action. Close enough to the players to see what all they’re doing on the sideline, coaches players etc. The surrounding fans have been great, active but they don’t puke all over you. It’s been fun…now if we could only win more games ! CMG

Side.Show: I’ve watched all the games so far this year and it seems to me that UNT running either a 4 or a 3 down scheme hasn’t done any good. Everyone seems to run right through or around the defense either way.

If Morris can put a defense out there that locks down Navy then in my opinion he is raised from the dead. Unfortunately that miracle hasn’t happened again in over two thousand years.

The most pathetic, lame, failed attempts at tackling I have seen at North Texas in YEARS. And yes I played the game, I know what it’s like to get rolled up and knocked on your ass going for tackles. But you put your jock strap on the line and tackle the SOB anyway.
