Lowest paid coach in the AAC?  Hopefully a lot of incentives. If you look at Seth's pay and what an OC would cost we may of just increased the staff pay by $1M PLUS.

2.4 Million for on field asst coaches?? Holy cow 10 Asst's to split obviously not equally but you can pay everyone a very pretty penny with that much.

Lol wut. He’s hiring absolute stud coaches from TEXAS AND ALABAMA that have connections in two of the most talent rich areas of the country, let alone the state. He got a DC from one of the toughest defenses in the big 12.

You ever stop to think he took less on purpose so he could surround himself with great coaches and not be the “smartest one in the room” like another poster mentioned Seth wanting to be?

I wish this article compared the prior staff $’s to this. I may be wrong, but I’m betting $1.1M for non-coaching staff is a significant bump.

Agreed. That puts your coordinators in the 4-500k range and position coaches at or sub 200. 

HC pay is clearly lowly considering the AAC. Our other coaches will be paid handsomely, though. I'm intrigued by all of this.

What are you talking about? You can argue Seth wasn’t earning his 2mil but he earned his way to that 2mil. Morris will have that same opportunity.

Also agreed. 1.1M to non-field coaches is nice. You could really put together a nice support system with that money.

Very stupid post.  He will have tons of incentives and also is paying his assistant a lot more money!

I think this is a reasonable number given his market value, and looking at how things seem, it feels like this was a much better thought through deal on UNTs part than the SL contracts (waiting for more details though). The buyout clauses for starters are better if Morris leaves NT for greener pastures. Also the buyout for NT will be decent bit cheaper if this should ever come up (hopefully not). Incentives maybe could have been a tad bit bigger, but that is a minor gripe. 

Most importantly: It looks like that money was not simply "saved". It was mostly invested in increasing the assistant pool, and it appears Morris is using it truly to the teams advantage. Hopefully if another part of what is left comes from donors, then that might have been redirected into NIL. Both of those things make coach Morris more likely to succeed in the mid and long term. I was always critical of the SL deals, as I thought the structure and clauses were bad, independent of whether he was going to be a good coach. I really like the structure of this deal, independent of whether or not Morris will turn out to be as good as we hope .

The on-field assistant pool seems to be about $700k higher than it was under Littrell.  I think we will see most of that increase go to the coordinators just based on the salaries they are leaving to come to UNT (without knowing who the offensive coordinator will be).

He doesn't deserve that pay yet.  If he improves the program he'll end up with more probably. I'd say they increase the OC/DC/STC, well possibly not OC since EM is the OC.   The position coaching hires I've seen should be paid less or the same though since they are mostly working higher level jobs for the first time.

If I were to guess, then we are going to have a lower overall salaries from last year and we will use the surplus to assist our NIL program.
