How much improved is this team?

                                                                            2016                       2015              improvement

After 7 games                    Points scored             190                         115                    75 points

                                          Points given up           190                        331                   141 points

Total point differential improvement of 216 points.

Littrell pulled one very large rabbit out of his hat.  Very impressive.

I bet Mac and RV both feel like a piece of shit right now

Mac probably doesn't care. He's still getting paid. Rick may feel vindicated because Littrell was his last, and maybe best, hire.

It should be made very clear, Littrell was not RV's hire.

If by that you mean that LIttrell did a much better job of evaluating talent and hiring assistant coaches, most notably the defensive staff, and all of them ACTUALLY DID THEIR JOBS.....then yes, he Litteraly pulled a rabbit out of his hat.

Whoever it was that identified and selected Litteral for the job should be selecting his replacement when Litteral (for the first time since Jerry Moore) gets hired away from NT.

I know most of us see us as a springboard job, but why not get very, very serious about football if this thing does in fact come full circle. If this thing turns us into a G5 mega power, I don't see how we shrug our shoulders at some middling P5 program throwing LIttrell a bone. We currently aren't a machine, so when things are going good we have to make an effort to hang onto it. That's all I'm saying.

The TV guys Saturday said we've now scored more points than we did all of last season.

Did RV want someone else?

Mac is probably happy for us, watching Iowa football and smiling at his FL ring.

RV was let go as soon as the school year ended. That alone tells me it was in the works for a long time, and that it didn't matter who RV wanted because Smatresk knew he wasn't going to be the AD going forward anyways.

It was told to me several times that RV had absolutely nothing to do with this selection process, other than as a figurehead to make the announcement, that Smatresk ran the whole search. If  you watched the video of them picking up Littrell in NC, you could tell Seth had never or barely ever met RV before.  Be sure the Littrell hire did not have RV's fat used car salesman fingers anywhere on it.
