I know it was close but this one hurts...

Ohio did not play well at all and still won.

Enough said.

3-9

Calm down. They actually did play hard and that counts for something. We didn't play well either, so it doesn't really matter a whole lot whether they played "well" or not. This team can go 6-6 from what I am seeing. It'll just take some determination, focus and better play calling, but it's definitely attainable. If we beat Ball State after a loss like this (and Ball State is a pretty good team it looks like), then I don't see how we don't go 6-6.

Much of this game was the same scenario that we've seen ad nauseum. Byrd over the middle on first down for a two yard gain. Pass on second down either incomplete or a four yard gain. Run again on third down for short gain. Occasionally pick up a first down. Can't score. Repeat. The scenario rarely changes. Vanilla plays. No deception or misdirection. Often decent yardage but NO points. We can't even kick field goals.

There were a few differences tonight; mostly the excellent Darnell Smith series. Also, a good catch and run by Carlos Harris. But often DT is just too slow delivering the ball. The ESPN3 announcer alluded to that fact. We run few plays for the amount of time of possession,.

I was hoping that we'd see some of the depth that we've uncovered but, except for Buyers (great interception!) and Pegram (nothing going for him) it was the same crew. How about some fresh bodies occasionally to give the opposition a different challenge?

I know, I know. Winning is never boring but how many winning seasons hve we experienced in the last ten? But, to keep doing the same thing and expecting different results (unless you have an inferior opponent) is insanity.

then just post on the Texan's board! stop tying to care about north texas!

I agree. Try following this team for close to 50 years. It is never easy, but it is my school and my team.

I put this game squarely on the shoulders of the coaching staff. So tired ofvthe read option on 1st down when the opponents never kry on the QB leading to 2nd and 8 over and over and over. Canales says DT is the smartest QB he has coached yet he can't fix basic footwork issues that lead to inaccurate throws over and over again. We still play not to lose instead of attacking the other team. Ohio got picked apart through the air by Louiseville yet we run over and over with unimaginative play calling.

Now I know many said a close loss would be alright since Ohio has a good team and was picked at or near the top of the MAC, but that game was our's for the taking. We should be 2-0 now, but the players have go put this game behind them, and the coaching staff has to have the team ready from the start and put together an aggressive game plan for Ball State. We can't afford to go into Georgia 1-2.
