If SMU leaves whomwould you want to add?

Top Sun Belt school would be my first choice. Georgia St. makes sense if they're adding "big market" teams since they're in Atlanta. Otherwise go after the best overall sports program in the last 10 years. Facilities and Stadium would definitely be taken into consideration.

No idea to be honest. Boise would be a home run but not sure they want to dip in to the later kickoffs/lack of a big market (although nationally known well)

stick to bigger markets, bigger population areas, thats going to translate to more eyeballs on screens which means more $$$.  I think that business model might be able to convince some schools outside the region to have interest, especially if they fit that model.  schools like UNLV and SDSU fit the model, and could turn the AAC into a very lucrative conference.

Army, Air Force, and/or Colorado St.

Sounds pretty good.  Although if Army wasn't willing to join the AAC previously, I doubt they'd be that interested now.  And it would probably take the PAC (and maybe BXII?) seriously cannibalizing the MWC before the AAC would be seen as a step up.

Previously posted article that shows some of what Army is thinking about...

For me I would like to add Texas State.  Close trip and pretty country side and campus there.

If they were such an attractive addition to our schedule, we would have them scheduled regularly in non-conference.  🤷🏽‍♂️ Maybe if we didn’t have UTSA already in the conference I might consider endorsing  the addition of Texas State.  I would prefer a conference of 10-12 solid programs instead of adding any programs in from conferences with less clout than ours.

Ideally (as others mentioned before) I would like Army and Air Force.

If it's just one...Army.  It's in the #1 media market (New York) plus it has a national following.  Army was in the AAC earlier but Navy wasn't.  Put them in the same conference with the same deal that Navy gets...football only.  Then you could choose a basketball school that has all of the Olympic sports but no football (like Wichita State).  When the next contract would come up I believe that ESPN would up the ante considerably.
