Coca Cola To Remake Classic Mean Joe Ad

Green Means Go!

Recommended Posts

--- I ordered "The Real Thing" at a concession stand of a basketball game a couple weeks ago... and got several blank stares. One of them then spoke up and said." I know what that is, it is a Coke". She was a bit older than the rest. LOL

I don't see it as blasphemy. Mean Joe's version will always be the classic, and this remake will enlighten the younger generation about Mean Joe and his classic Coke commercial.

I agree totally. This is and will still remain as the classic one but they can't show that same commercial today. I think Troy is a really candidate that was picked.

I don't see why everyone feels the need to remake everything.

No original ideas left in advertising, except for those "Free Credit Report.com" guys. And they should have stuck with the original song.

If they do a remake, they should run the original and the remake back to back. Let the public judge.

Who in the wide world of sports is Troy Polamalu ? I swear I've never heard of him. Does he play pro football ?

One of the comments on the commercial link asks why Mean Joe is walking down the ramp from the seating area having passed through fans on his way to the locker room.

I never noticed that before.

Another comment was that this Troy fellow couldn't carry Mean Joe's jock.

It's hard to improve on a classic.

That's a stretch. Troy Polamalu has certainly not attained the legendary status of Mean Joe, but he is one of the best players in the NFL. He plays for the Steelers, and is arguably the best safety in the game.
