UPDATE:  I asked a guy in the office about it.  He went to the Naval Academy.  He said that everything Army does is weird and not to try to put reason to it.  Who'd have thunk!

I think it's just a version of "Capture the Flag."  It is Army after all.

After being at the other games up at West Point there wasn't anything like this with a cadet & our flag.

Something else, after the games walking through the cemetery with other fans was like a history lesson. Beautiful school and time of year there...
