MGB: Desmon White talks about commitment to UNT

High risk, high reward recruit.

I like it,

I don't think he's a high risk. If we were bringing him in to play qb then I'd say high risk.

We're bringing him in to contribute which I think he will do. Return specialist to start his career and later could be a guy to get a few carries and/or a few catches a game.

As we saw last year when Jimmerson and Chancellor went down, you need to have a few playmakers to spare.

Where will he be moved? A little small to play QB, don't you think?

From Vito's Blog:

“The kind of offense they run is what I like,” White said. “They want me to return punts and kicks. They also want to use me as slot receiver and a wildcat quarterback like they use Brelan Chancellor. They told me that I will be playing a role like the one he has.”

Not sure what the risk is with this commitment.

As I mentioned earlier, has slot receiver written all over him but I'm sure he's being recruited as an ATH. I'm glad to see a kid who produced at the highest level of high school being rewarded. Tightening the DeSoto pipeline doesn't hurt. Desmon, welcome to the family!

He's the catalyst for one of the top high school teams in the country, and has playmaker written all over him. Small receivers have excelled in the FBS and he looks to be as much of a sure thing as his size allows. We need skill players with a nose for the goal line and he fits the bill. Even if he may not have quite the workout speed that impresses you his game speed does.

Really glad to have you, Desmon.

Right, so shaving .5 a second off your 40 time doesn't matter? :fpc:

How often do we recruit players with faster 40 times than he's listed at?

EDIT: For the record, Brelan's 40 time is listed at 4.66 (low 4.55). And we've seen multiple times that he has BCS AQ-caliber speed.

LOL, in a sense. What I was referring to was boosting a little more speed to separate himself from defenders once he breaks into the open field. That's all. I don't want his family to come on here and think I'm not happy to have him here. He looks like great pickup.
