Tough times in Nacogdoches

So much for that Cinderella story:

  • Included in the vacation of wins are conference championships in men's basketball in 2014-15, 2015-16 and 2017-18, as well as the program's First Round win in the 2016 NCAA Tournament.  The banners recognizing those achievements will be removed from William R. Johnson Coliseum.

ouch, but not surprising NCAA comes down on SFA, easy to go after small potatoes and ignore the big $$$$ cows

Yes, SFA should have hired UNC's attorneys.

What a bunch of bull crap. NCAA days are numbered. They are no longer the Cartel !

Okay, but we forget that the NCAA is *us*, the Royal We. Yeah, Emmert and the investigations side of things is truly incompetent, but if we were to enact change, you'd have to petition our own leadership as its the ADs and university presidents that ultimately make decisions collectively. Hell, Smatresk has even rejoined the NCAA governing board this year.

Been this way forever and it will never change.

Years ago, a BB player at UTEP was given a pair of shoes (the person that gave them to  him was one of their announcers) when a person saw the young man walking around and the shoes he was wearing were literally falling apart. I think he bought the shoes at a Payless. When the story got out UTEP was sited by the NCAA. But, it's OK for Nike to provide millions.

Does vacating a win give the loser the win or is the game just not counted ?

SFA has to give up those wins, but the other teams don't get the wins.

V = Vacated A vacated game is expunged from a school's record, although its opponent's record is not changed.

F = Forfeit A forfeit changes a school's original win or tie into a loss and its opponent's original loss or tie into a win.

Yeah, that would require way too many article updates on Wikipedia.

Bummer. Would have been a game changer for Benfords legacy here.
