22,398 in DMN. From the pictures I can believe it. Students showed up but alumni not as much.

On the car ride home the radio said something between 22,000 and 22,500. if everyone in the concourse would/could have gone to their seats at once the crowd might have looked a little more impressive.

I still wouldn't call it poor as its better than we've averaged. I'd call it disappointing.

I think us hardcore fans need to realize that it's going to take time to correct our attendance issue. One winning season isn't going to do it.

We have to change the culture at the university and it's going to start with the current students. Most alumni are completely disengaged from the school because of how horrible we've been in the recent past.

Concourse on the student side was stupid packed all game. If it wouldn't have been so hot the student side would have wrapped around up into the wing. But a lot of people were trying to avoid the sun.

I was honestly pleased with the attendance. 11 am, the heat, and the texas game all hurt our chances of a big crowd. If $MU would have brought any fans from 30 minutes away we would have hit 25k

A lot of alumni were like me--my son had his first little league soccer game at 10:30. There was no way I could make it for the 11:00 kickoff. So, after we got home, we just watched it all on the DVR. I enjoyed it greatly at home, but I had tickets we had to give away because my group of three couldn't go. I bet there were a lot of alumni parents like me on Saturday. Trust me, I was not happy about having to miss a home game I've looked forward to for about 3 years...

I'll trade 5K in attendance for a Fox Sports SW beat down of SMU. There were enough people loud when it mattered in the first half for everyone to deserve their respite in the shade.

I hope to see all of you folks who had to bounce for Soccer games filling your seats on Thursday evening.

I took so much sun that I had to leave at half. I could not stay hydrated got the pounding headache and could not take it. I saw many SMU fans leaving at the half as well.

The SMU fans left for a different reason.

There were three reasons...

1. Both teams had terrible 1st week showings.

2. The heat was unbelievable -- on the alumni side I felt bad for some of our older fans that tried to make it through but just physically could not. That may have been the brightest/hottest sun I have seen at a UNT game since Oregon State in Fouts.

3. Game time was a KILLER. I cannot remember the last time we had an opener at 11am but I would bet that it was not a great attendance game..

The alumni side under the stands was PACKED with people trying to cool down... it was miserable.. also SMU did not bring jack...

WIN WIN WIN WIN..There are numerous examples of fan bases being built from Winning. It is exponential. Our Alum numbers have helped us. This will continue to grow. Pride is a great thing.

If we win Thursday, I am hoping that we can pack the stands for a late game againts a cupcake team like Nicholls State. Also, the Nich State game is family weekend so hopefully that will help with the numbers too.

Both my parents had to leave at half. There was a real danger of overheating for them, I was worried. I also had two girls with us age 6 and 11 and they were just not doing well at halftime. It was simply too much but as I said it would have helped some if we were giving out water and other items to help with the heat. We have to be more aware of our fanbase and the issues they are facing.

I just think our number 1 priority right now is our butts in seats fans. We have to get the alumni side taken care of.

The pounding that was administered was worth more than the #of butts in seats as far as positives/negatives on TV. It wasn't embarrassing.

I'm curious to see how our attendance turns out for Southern Miss. Mid-October 6pm start. USM has good name recognition for the spare to fare football fan. History of being a pretty good team. Local alum base? Travels well? We'll see.

there is excitement from the young fans. I graduated last year and this is the first time I have ever seen recent graduates everywhere at tailgate. Usually once people graduate I don't see them until homecoming but the bowl season got a lot of people excited. Look for the away side to be full all year long.

I dunno if it was worth or or not. What were the tv ratings, anyone know? And we won't know if it was worth it on a revenue standpoint until CUSA starts cutting checks at seasons end.

We had a great season, last season, a great bowl win, and then a terrible loss to Texas. Combine that with heat and 11:00 AM and you are gonna lose some attendance. Now, we have a big win and NOW some of the younger crowd is digging gettin' down on smoo. I like that. The culture will change, quicker than the culture in Iraq but not as fast as the culture in College Station. Give us time, which you have, and give us another great season. I hope we win 'em all and host the championship game. Go Mean Green.
