UNT may have lost Chad Polk

Thinking medical redshirt? I wouldn't count on getting a 6th year unless they can prove he redshirted last year due to injury.

If they tried to apply a hardship waiver ("medical redshirt") to last year, then he definitely could not get a medical RS this year. But since he didn't see any PT last year, he kept the regular redshirt on--he should be good to get a medical RS this year, if he is indeed done for the year.

Hope you are right!

We really can't afford any more losses like this with McCoy & Phillips banged up. I feel like we have finally built some depth on that side. Who gets more playing time now? Sashington? Lajaylin Smith?

Sashington is now a RB. I would look for Akunne, Orr and Wright to start.

That leaves us without experienced backups. LaJaylin Smith has appeared in a game and walk-on Campbell has appeared briefly also. Jarrian Roberts and Kendall Washington might be ready and I like to see what Jarrod Lynn can do. I'd think that Dustin Clark needs to put on more weight and considered this a redshirt year for him. There's some talent there but no experience.

Sarge is not being missed at the moment. Bellazin, his replacement, leads the team in Tackles for Loss (3) and Sacks (2). On the other side, Obi is putting up some decent numbers also.

Akunne is already starting. Wright will be the one to get more PT because of this. I would think L. Smith as well.

Guess the question is, what player that was not in the 2 deep moves off the bench? With the way Mac thinks and the way the original 2 deep shaped out, I don't expect to see anyone under 220lbs. So that leaves Kendall Washington and Jarrian Roberts.

Thoughts?

No offense to Kendall but Jarrian is my favorite signing of last year so I hope he gets activated

Any confirmation on Polk? He has certainly contributed some nice plays in the first two games. Love his speed and his ability to hit.

Wasn't Kendall Washington a Minnesota commit out of HS? I know he and Jarrian both possess prototypical LB frames but ( lack of) experience is certainly an area for concern
