Utah State To The Mwc

great post colorado eagle u nailed it.... the music finally stopped for LT, NMSU, and Idaho

Maybe not the best news but atleast they keep watering down the MWC and this should kill the WAC..... Tx St. and NMSU would make great conference rivals.... La Tech would probably prefer going indy.... Im not a huge fan of UTSA but they would draw more intrest for home games than F_U...... its really too bad for our old Big West and Sun Belt rival Idaho.... the WAC never was the same after the texas schools left UH, SMU and Rice left, it was obvious that the WAC would be poached by the MWC, and the MWC would be poached by the Pac 10.... but it was BYU throwing a wrench in the whole thing by going indy

The article says USU may be headed to MWC. There has been no official announcement yet. There is nothing from Utah State or the MWC conference. This is nothing more than speculation.

Stupid. Just throw NMSU and Idaho in the conference and make two seven-team division (MAC-like).

La. Tech, UTSA, and Texas State to the Sun Belt. Throw in Lamar and USA, who is coming eventually anyway, and make it a two-division conference as well:

East

Arkansas State

Florida International

Florida Atlantic

Middle Tennessee

South Alabama

Troy

Western Kentucky

West

North Texas

UTSA

Texas State

Lamar

Louisiana Tech

Louisiana

ULM

Hells damn bells! Throw UTEP and NMSU in with the West, and we could simply walk away from the eastern-most elements of the Sun Belt and have our own conference.

Everyone should get off their high horses and swallows a little pride.

The whole thing is stupid and annoying. It's gotten so ridiculously stupid. I know it's about the money, but that's what makes the whole damn system a charade. The BCS, the NCAA, all of it. It's not about "amateur athletics" anymore. It's about the "traditional powers" cutting off as big a slice of the pie as they can.

Just walk away from the bastards. Can't the F'brains that run programs in the Sun Belt and other conferences just grow some balls and ignore the "traditional powers"?

Make it real. Make it semi-pro. Do something else besides making all of these stupid false gestures towards "amateur athletics" and the BCS. Call their bluff! Start paying the players in the non-AQ conference and see how fast the BCS charade comes down.

Cowards. Liars, thieves, and cowards. Every last damn school president and athletic administrator that continually perpetrates the ongoing fraud of "amateur athletics" in the 21st Century Television Contract world.

Stupid!

Stupid! Stupid! Stupid! Stupid! Stupid! Stupid! Stupid! Stupid! Stupid! Stupid! Stupid! Stupid! Stupid! Stupid! Stupid! Stupid! Stupid! Stupid! Stupid! Stupid! Stupid! Stupid! Stupid! Stupid! Stupid! Stupid! Stupid! Stupid! Stupid! Stupid! Stupid! Stupid!

That's how I feel about your realignment theory too.

The correct answer is:

SBC East: FAU, FIU, MTSU, WKY, Troy, USA

SBC West: UNT, Ark St, UL-M, UL-L, LA Tech, and UTSAor NMSU

Closing with 'Monkeyfarts' cinched it.

Seriously, though, agreed with every last word.

Look UNLV never thought it would be in the same league with Reno, but there is no biatching here in Las Vegas. La Tech needs to knut up and accept that it's best case scenario is actually and upgrade. They gain regional rivalries, a bowl game in Southern LA. They get to pound heads with Southern foes like Troy and Middle. Just make it happen:

The Great Gulf

Gulf West

UNT

La Tech

NMSU

UTSA

Texas State

Arkansas State

Louisiana

Gulf East

Western KY

Troy

Middle

FIU

FAU

South Alabama

Louisiana Monroe

Went over to the MWC board and read a little about what is going on. It would appear USU is will be the #11 team. Officially the MWC and USU have no comments. The interesting development is that San Jose seems to be in doubt as #12. The MWC claims they have not contacted San Jose, and San Jose says they haven't been approached about the spot. Could the MWC still want a Texas team? One poster claims the T.V. money will be about the same with either San Jose or North Texas as the #12 team. Other factors will be used to determine who gets the spot. Lets hope are new stadium, athletic fee, size, increased coaching salaries, and success in other sports can push us over the top. It looks like the west coast schools are pushing for SJSU, and the mountain time zone schools, who get more Texas recruits, may be pulling for us. We will see.

Brilliant ideas!!!

I love this alignment. It drastically cuts travel costs for conference games. It encourages fan travel, especially to some interesting destinations. It increases our exposure in markets not only where we recruit athletes, but also where we recruit students. The added markets will increase television value.

And as a side benefit, it blocks Benson from raising Lamar, SHSU, SFA, and every other current FCS Southland school to the FBS.

I hope someone is up late tonight pulling some MWC strings for North Texas. It would be a huge upgrade over the SBC.
