UNT Announces Football Spring Game Festivities April 6

Game will kickoff at 2:00 PM with festivities starting at 12:00 PM

DENTON, Texas – Head coach Eric Morris and the UNT football team will play its 2024 Spring Football game on Saturday, April 6 at 2 PM in DATCU Stadium.

Festivities for the event start at 12 PM with the game kicking off at 2:00 PM. Admission is free for all attendees.

Fans are encouraged to visit the pregame fun zone under the wing between sections 310 and 315 to experience live music, a petting zoo, face painting, a caricature artist and much more. In addition, fans will have the opportunity to watch a corgi race on the field at halftime of the game.

Guests who attend the Spring game will encounter a new security measure – walk through and hand-held metal detectors – when they enter the stadium.

Select concession stands throughout the stadium will be open for the event, including Kona Ice and Beth Marie's Old Fashioned Ice Cream, among others. The Voertman's team shop will also be open to the public.

UNT will also host a Friday night (April 5) social gathering at East Side on Oak Street in Denton starting at 5:30 PM. The event is open to the public.

The metal detector process will include a standard request for removal of car keys and cell phones, as well as other non-permitted items. An alarm will cause the guest to submit to a secondary screening with the hand-held detector. Guests with special health-related needs can opt to be hand-wanded.

The HUB Club will also be open for current season ticket patrons or interested buyers with staff on-site renewing and selling 2024 season tickets. Patrons will have access to a cash bar will be also available in the club during the event.

UNT will also be hosting the Mean Green Invitational track meet all day April 6th with events starting at 9:00 AM.

Fans can also purchase or renew season tickets by logging into their online account at meangreentickets.com, by calling 940-565-2527 or by visiting ticket office located inside the team store at Gate 2 of DATCU Stadium.

Fans are advised that gates 1, 2, 3 and 4 will all be open beginning at 12 pm. Only the west (home) side seating will be open. Parking lots will be free and open to the public as well.

Also, this won't be the typical 1st team offense vs 2nd team defense scrimmage and vice versa they've done in past Spring games. They named captains for the Spring game and the captains held a draft to pick teams. Coaches are also split between the 2 teams and it will be played like an actual game.

I didn’t eyeroll, but the number of staff members does seem high.  I think it has the entire football staff, though.  Recruiting, GA’s, etc.

It's trendy right now in college football to have giant staffs, support staffs, etc. That's why I was asking. Just surprised to see a negative net or push program setup this way. Doesn't make much sense.

These are just team rosters for today's game. Injured guys aren't on it. If you go to the official site.....Zach Evans is still on the roster.

Yep. Earl looked pretty Sharpe. The freshman from China Spring has a very strong arm and he has good/very good acceleration. when he takes off to run. Mooney didn't impress me at all. 

The three guys that really got my attention were the converted WR, Shane Porter, #24 playing RB. They gave him a lot of reps. Very good moves at the line of scrimmage (changing direction) and sometimes pretty hard to bring down. Not bad for someone who is 177lbs. The second one is the transfer, Oscar Hammond, TE #23.  He takes all of the pain out of losing Mr. Gumms to Arkansas. He goes after the ball and seemed to always catch it, and he turned it into lots of YAC. #3  Richard Rocquemore #81. Brought down two very long balls whilst being very closely covered.

Yes, Hammond was impressive. Farrar & Porter both looked good at RB. Heard Wesloski's name quite a bit on defense. Also Spruills did pretty good at safety.

My Spring game takeaway: Chandler Morris will be QB1 by week 2 on campus.

I wasn't there. Only stat that sticks out to me is that Earle threw 1 TD pass and Cash McCollum, the early enrollee true freshman, had 150 passing yards for 2 TDs. Either Cash is the real deal or we better hope Chandler Morris is the real deal.

17-22 for 214 yards according to Vito for Earle.  Pretty good percentage.  My understanding is they made White play into the wind the whole game instead of flipping.  Maybe because the lead was so big?

The two TD passes by Cash and the Green Team were into the wind. Stone’s TD pass was into the wind also.

We better hope that he is more durable than when he was at TCU. OR that he can get rid of the ball quickly.
