Uninspiring hire for an uninspiring school. Perfect fit.

Took FCGU to the Sweet 16.  Eight appearances in the NCAA tournament including another Sweet 16 and an Elite 8.  Also regarded as one the truly elite recruiters in the country.  Signed a six year extension with USC after last season.

Enfield is (was) still at USC? I remember watching FGCU at AT&T in the tournament that year... good times

Yep.  Dunk City!  Pretty incredible what he was able to do with virtually zero resources at FGCU.

If he had stayed another year he'd likely be the winningest coach in Trojan basketball history.

Those were both good jobs and good schools.

It's amusing that these smu trolls are as thrilled as they are over this hire.  He was at USC for ELEVEN years.  FGCU was a long time ago.  He recruits at a high enough level that they may be able to get out of the cellar of the ACC, but he looks a lot like a Will Wade type guy to me.  Expect trouble and underachievement when up against the really big boys. Good luck....NOT.

You mean after the previous season.  This season he went 15-18 and many wanted him gone!  He will fail at $mut too...they all do.

He was in the Elite 8 in 2021 and has recruited at an elite level.  Plenty to be excited about w/ Enfield.

Team was completely gutted by injuries but rebounded late to win 5 of last 7 (including a win over Arizona).

I love SMU trying to throw shade at a superior basketball program.

They are not even in our league I don’t understand this thread. I don’t see Texas State, Baylor, A&M or UTEP updates.

Good luck with your hire. Ready to see the Mean Green grow this offseason.

Same speech two years ago with that new coach… didn’t happen then either.

Not from me.  Nothing in Lanier's background suggested he was going to do any different at SMU.  I did think NIL would help him.....but he wouldn't utilize it.  Strange.

Enfield isn't taking us to the final four.  But he has a long history of high level recruiting and rebuilding, which is what we need to do quickly.  We can get to where USC is, then reevaluate.  Probably the best we could hope for
