I normally root for Navy, but I will be rooting for Temple today. WMU deserves to be in the Cotton Bowl. They have earned it.

What about La. Tech WKU?  If Tech wins they get choice of HOD but might choose a better opponent game.  If WKU wins I would suspect they pass on HOD get a better game for them.  It is interesting from the UNT bowl option perspective.

I think La Tech is not in play for HoD. It's starting to look more and more like North Texas is a lock. The opponent is just the question. So, it's irrelevant to me who wins in that game. I suppose I will root for WKU to beat La Tech in order not to give them another recruiting tool and I guess to solidify the chance of them not going to HOD.

Regardless of the outcome I would expect to see La Tech in Shreveport vs either Vanderbilt or Kentucky (maybe Miss St.).

Good take.  I agree with everything except Shreveport as I think there may be some bad blood between them from years past where Tech got passed over when they were deserving.

There is NO ONE at this game in WKU. EMBARRASING you're playing on ESPN for the CUSA championship game!!!

That is absolutely pitiful.

To add, CUSA needs to rid the best record home game concept for champ game. Maybe the highest avg attendance of the 2 teams playing in the game gets the home game. CUSA has to do whatever they can to build the brand and this hurts the brand of every team in the conference. D2 champ games have better attendance, seriously. WKU and their alum should be ashamed.

True, but remember that Tech was equally guilty of playing f-f games with the Independence Bowl group when Tech's Derek Dooley announced that they would refuse to play in the bowl game if the Louisiana Cajuns were the opponent.

Tech wound up playing a very respectable Northern Illinois team in the game, but the Cajun fan base would have spent so much more money in the restaurants, hotels, and casinos, and that is why Shreveport sponsors the game.

Latech also turned down (told the bowl they needed time to think about it) an Indy bowl bid a couple of years ago when the opponent was ULM.

The problem with having teams teams like Latech and WKU in the conference is that even when they are winning, their attendance is not good. We need teams that will draw well when they they are good.

It is similar to having teams like Tulsa, smoo, etc...  They are small schools that sometimes have good teams but they have really small fan bases.

Wow - Temple is curb stomping Navy 21-0 with most of the 2nd quarter left... perhaps Navy is not as good as we thunk or Temple is really good.

Navy, so far has lost their QB and slot WR in the game.

Temples is 11th in scoring defense, 24th in run defense and 2nd in pass defense.  They're for real.

Along with what some mentioned above...with La Tech's history of being finicky about bowls, I'm wondering if bowls and committees might be looking at who would be the best fit and letting them end up wherever instead of having to play musical teams just to satisfy that one school. I don't really care, because other than this year it hasn't had an effect on us, but if I was involved in selecting teams, I wouldn't base my decisions on them if there was another team likely to bring fans and/or tv ratings.  If a G5 team has had at least 2 instances in recent memory of "thinking it over" to see if they can get a better spot or flat-out turning a bowl down, both times for regional bowls that would give fans easy access, I'd be reticent to base my decision on them and would look for other, more willing teams and let the picky team end up wherever.

Just Scattershootin' From The Hip:

MWC, folks..........W--I--T's (The above picture of an empty stadium for a Championship game is pitiful & tells us what the future of CUSA aka SBC 2.0 is really all about & makes MWC make even more sense).

Rice alums & fans are ready to make this MWC happen. I spoke to a Rice alum about this yesterday--he got excited about the possibility.  (My eye doctor is also a Rice alum).  Even their Parliament fan forum board has support for MWC.  They see little long term upside with CUSA/SBC 2.0.

Yet........would Prez' Smatresk, Wren Baker & our BOR's want to at least explore this MWC thing?  Like maybe even showing up on the office doorsteps of the MWC Commish' next Monday?  LOL!

The MWC Commish' has mentioned the, uh, .....Tex-4 > > > > (Rice, UNT, UTEP & UTSA) .......as their "Texas option."   This kind of conference membership would be the 2'nd most important thing to happen for our school since the construction of Apogee Stadium).

Fact is.........with recent media noise suggesting the AAC could lose possible members in the East you can bet your sweet bippy that UH and SMU would (with reckless abandon) pursue the Mountain West Conference in a NY minute & that another reason our leaders need to be proactive with this if there is even a crease of light for this to happen.

Just saying'...

GMG

For those of us who've been around all this for going on 40 years to a half a century you do come up with (most times) some semblance of a  balanced perspective as it relates to where we've been and where we really believe we can go.

If your standing still in today's NCAA you are most likely going backwards & (sadly) that school will eventually reap the rewards for doing such.
