Oklahoma quarterback Trevor Knight will reportedly be playing for a new team in 2016.

According to SoonerScoop.com, Knight, a junior, has been granted a release from his scholarship by coach Bob Stoops. He's scheduled to graduate at the end of the semester and would be immediately eligible in 2016 for his new school as a graduate transfer.

Does North Texas have any coaches with ties to the Oklahoma Sooners? Would North Texas want a quarterback with immediate eligibility and 2 years eligibility remaining?

This seems tailor made for Littrel's new UNT program. Knight isn't a great Big12 QB (except for the Sugar Bowl against Bama), but would be an amazing talent in C-USA. Maybe we will hear something in the next few days.

Hopefully Graham is already trying to call him. Don't think it's very realistic though considering he can transfer anywhere, and how many P5s out there need even a decent Quarterback right now.

If you look at Twitter right now almost every college fan base in America right now is mentioning Trevor Knight or Kyle Allen. They will have their options.

true, but going to a p5 with only a year left is very risky.  Driskel went to LaTech and was most likely guaranteed to start.  With one year left, guy are going to pretty much want a lock to start.

He could start at many bigger programs. Take a look at Texas and their QB situation, for instance.

A lot of those huge P5 fans and Twitter commenters are mentioning Knight as being a back up for their starter QB. I think this gives the G5's a better chance at being a destination for him. I would think that the guy would want to stay close Norman. If he doesn't care about getting home sick, then you are probably right and we might see him playing at USC or Texas soon.

Why not likely? If he's considering SMU he damn well better be considering UNT.

Honestly, I expect him to end up at a P5 school before he lands with either of us.  But of course I'm still hoping somebody of his caliber wants to work with guys like Littrell and Harrell.
