Because that's what you do in the middle of a pandemic... you sign up for 30 years of payments... Anyways, we started moving in yesterday, and for those of you who don't know, I live in Nashville. Well, today we opened up a closet and discovered this ONE chair left here by the previous owner... I'd like to think this is a sign that this was the perfect home purchase... because i'll be damned if this isn't a Flying Worm Mean Green chair right here.11 points

RV, like every Athletic Director before him, worked in an underfunded department. The bank vault did not open until Dr. Smatresk arrived.Anyone who thinks that he doesn't care about athletics is really mistaken. Also, most of our posters have a less that flattering opinion of RV. In his defense, since my freshman year of 1961 [excluding Fry 's 3,000 sq. ft. athletic department building in the parking between Fout's Field and the Super Pitt ] there had been no construction of any dedicated athletic facility at UNT. The new football stadium and administration building are a result of his efforts while UNT went thru 3 or 4 presidents during his tenure. Please don't be dumb enough to say that those facilities would have been constructed anyway. Rick was less that perfect, but give him his due.5 points

There is a good interview embedded with the article that I hadn’t heard before. https://sportsmockery.com/2020/08/chicago-bears-are-flying-in-a-new-qb-and-hes-got-game/3 points

Part of me desperately wants a QB to emerge and become the next Fine. But you can't ignore our talent at RB. If we establish who we are on the OL, all we need is a game manager back there. Someone who gets the ball to the right people and doesn't turn it over.2 points

My dad played for him 76-79 their first four years in the SWC. Won 3 championships and 2/3 cotton bowls. Only loss was the chicken soup game which I’ll not elaborate on bc it is the most nauseating story. I met Coach several times and he was gracious and humble. My dad’s journey as a quarterback surrounded by a ton of talent was a very competitive one and it was difficult but he has always held Coach in the highest regard. He was a man of integrity (regardless of probations) and a brilliant innovator.2 points

All I wanted for him was an opportunity. Nothing is guaranteed, especially in the NFL, but it was BS that he didn't get a combine invite and it blows my mind this is the first tryout he's getting. We're rooting for you Mason, go show 'em what you're made of.2 points

Houston has its Oilers...oh, wait they left., D'Eriq King? Gone. Jim Nantz? Gone. Freddy Couples? Gone. Two can play that stupid game.2 points

I agree. It’s a sign. Congratulations on your investment in the American dream. And a cool green chair. GO MEAN GREEN2 points

We all know what they say about these types....they know more and more about less and less until they know absolutely everything about nothing.2 points

In 1969 Cedric Hardman had 39 sacs for the season as a defensive end. He had 11 sacks in one game against Tulsa. He played in 2 post season All Star games as was Defensive MVP in both games. He surely is close to the top of this list.2 points

Regarding making decisions, I would have been good working at CUSA right now. You see, before I got married to my wife, we dated for like 6 years. You just can't make quick decisions.2 points

Not sure but we had a couple of annoying unt fans on our boards before the game last year. Spamming the same thing over and over. Clown us all you want just please leave CBY out of it. He saw the value in everything. Even the city denton folk don't like.2 points

How about all of you who have already sent in your money and don't plan to attend send the athletic department a recent photo and ask them to make a cardboard cutout and put it in your seat.2 points

While I'm happy for the kid I really think this is a bit ridiculous. The parents are mostly to blame, but why on earth are we offering a 7th grader? Recruiting is getting out of hand now IMO.1 point

I want a full schedule. I just saw SMU’s amended schedule and it is full and lays out nicely for them to tune up with SFA before welcoming Memphis to Ford. Sucks they don’t have a home game until the end of the month but totally drivable ones to San Marcos, Fort Worth And Denton. Good luck Wren getting the 12th date filled. GMG1 point

Commits to LSU. We were his first D1 offer very late in the process for a typical D1 recruit (December of his senior season) and he ends up with offers from LSU, Georgetown, Auburn, Va Tech, VCU, Ole Miss, and DePaul among many others. Very telling on our scouting abilities, both from a standpoint of finding these under the radar guys and evaluating them. I’m usually not big on praising our coaches for efforts where we don’t actually land the player, but it’s impressive what they are doing. Looking forward to what they have cooking for the 2021 class.1 point

It’s kind of like a post but instead of cutting across the field at more of a 30-45 degree, it’s a much tighter angle and more dependent on the coverage, as it’s usually meant to wedge in between a corner and the safeties and linebackers in the middle of the field. Kind of like this Shorter TD last year 137ACDEC-6174-4DEA-8774-492EED27D7B2.MOV1 point

Lot of love for Bean in this one. Sounds like he had a good day without turning the ball over.1 point

Both amazing but also both Sean Lee type guys. They never missed tackles but also never really made you hold your breath. Along those lines Awasome put more than a couple licks on blindsided QBs that should warrant him discussion.1 point

Johnny Mata gets my vote. He is from the late 60's and loved to hurl himself over the o- line for a tackle.1 point

I work with a bunch of PhD/academic types. If they're typical, then it's not looking good. Most of them are deathly afraid to even step out of their front door right now. You should hear the disgust in their voices when they find out I went *gasp* to a restaurant.1 point

Didn't want to start anything. Just thought it was distasteful to take a dig at a man who recently passed that loved his city, given the original topic. But then again I'm just a visitor. These are your boards. Stay classy.1 point

Denton has arts, jazz, hippies and Doctor Phil. That's about it. Oh wait..even Dr. Phil left Denton. What about Norah Jones? Surely she still lives there, she's a musician! Oh no? She left too?💀1 point

Well, if you like humidity and mosquitoes and fat people, Houston does have that going for them. All Denton has is arts and education...you know, the stuff that enhances humanity.1 point
