Tulane (1/6/2024)

Recommended Posts

After their wins this week UNT jumped in NET from 90th to 74th, while Tulane jumped from 124th to 102nd., 4th and 5th in the AAC. I.e. this is a matchup of two teams likely to be upper middle class in the American. Wichitia is 7th. So If UNT can win this one it might be big for tie breakers later in the season to stay top 4 in conference. The top 4 get an extra bye in the tournament.

I feel a bit better after beating Wichita State, but Tulane knows how to score. Their 84 points against Rice two days ago was the fewest they've scored in their 10 wins this season. However, they haven't really played anyone. The biggest name they've beaten is Cal, who is only 4-10. Their most notable win to me was at Fordham, 89-81 right before we played them. They got shellacked by 30 points to Mississippi State.

Need everyone to pack the Pit!!

I doubt this isn't going to be as close as it looks at first glance. On paper Tulane has some wins with big points spreads, but almost all have been SUPER cupcake games (excepting Cal and Rice) -7.5 seems about right although the line is now -5 UNT.

Feels like we're playing at their pace rather than ours.

For a team with 7 rotation players I would assume it’s our pace…. Helps stay out of foul trouble and maintain stamina for late in game. Not pressing a lot on defense to give them some every buckets but taking out time on the other end to catch a break. At least for now.
