  1. One, my hope is he wouldn't leave UNT as long as McCasland is here given the fact the McCasland was about the only one willing to take a chance on him. And it has paid huge dividends for both sides. And two, Ousmane better be get ready for tomorrow night. WKU has a 7'5" big man that can move. Tomorrow night is another big test for this team.
  2. I watched him come off of the bench vs. UMass and was immediately impressed with his length and athleticism. Give him some more time with McCasland and he could become dangerous.
  3. #packthepit needs to be promoted from here on out. I don't care how we do it, we need to get as many people in the stands for every home game. This team has the potential to be the best in UNT history and they need to know that from our fanbase.
  4. I'm going to take off my green glasses for a moment and be real for a minute. And I will preface by saying I am with everyone else in the desire to have a more successful football program. BUT, we have to be honest about UNT football, who we are, and how deep of a hole we're climbing out of. Dating back to 1980, UNT has had 7 winning seasons. SEVEN in FORTY years. In 12 of those seasons, we won three games or less. So outside of Dickey's run in the early 2000's, this program has been at the bottom of the barrel for four decades. You can't argue that. The proof is in pudding. Yes, Littrell has been .500 coach in his six years since coming to Denton. But, this has been against the highest level of competition we have faced year in and year out when compared to our previous conferences. Littrell has helped solidify this program in a better position than we've been in for four decades. With all of the said, it is now time to "take the next step" and move up the ladder. And it is my opinion that Littrell has earned that right for at least another season. I also believe many of you will surprised at what this team will accomplish next season. But even if Littrell is gone after next season, it's hard to argue that he hasn't at a minimum moved our program forward out of the ditches.
  5. Where is the info coming from that the game has been cancelled? I'm not tracking this on the interwebs.......
  6. I hope the public at large and especially the folks in Denton (students and general public) start to realize how special this team is. This is a legit, competitive D-1 basketball team, the best I’ve watched at UNT in 20 + years and they deserve that level of support in the stands. I always drink the Green Kool-Aid but that’s real talk. The way we play defense allows us to be in any and every game. Coach Mac is a gem and my greatest hope in us keeping him is that (a) he’s a DFW native and wants to stay here and (b) he wants to be the man who built a lasting legacy on this program. We’re about 5 minutes of basketball away from being 9-1 this season with our only loss to Kansas. And the way Mac coaches and builds our players as the season progresses, we’re just now getting started.
  7. I'll give you one reason. This right here. We have a ton of young talent that matured greatly this season and will come back even better in the fall. Not to mention injuries to guys like Shorter and Bush that hopefully get healthy in the offseason.
  8. This is a legitimate get for us and would be an instant upgrade. Littrell & Co. needs to go full court press on this kid and get him to Denton. Put that arm in with this run game and our much improved defense, we could be very dangerous in ‘22.
  9. I don’t think they got by us. They both kicked our @$&!!! But this is a different team that’s playing now vs. then.
  10. This doesn’t have to be an exclusive / our only rival. We still have other in state rivalries with SMU and Rice along with new regional ones like Tulsa, Tulane, Memphis. Side bar, but I really look forward to traveling to some our AAC road games. Some really fun places to visit in our new conference.
  11. UTSA is about to spend some coin on their athletics department. I increasingly get the feeling that we could be in for a great rivalry with these guys, and I’m here for it, especially after this past weekend. The better our conference rivals are, the better we will be. https://www.utsa.edu/today/2021/12/story/utsa-athletics-launches-bold-champions.html
  12. Littrell will be back next season. But as stated, he has perform above and beyond next season or he’s gone. Next year is make break for him. I think 8 wins is the minimum next year given our OOC schedule.
  13. Winnable game that this program needs. I know it’s early but after watching a few games this season, this team has the potential to be better than last years.
  14. 2-13 from beyond the arc, many of them wide open looks. If we make just a few of those, it’s a different ballgame. But defense has been superb, as usual.
  15. Can’t make wide open threes. Gotta start playing at the rim!!!
  16. Reminded of this team coming into this weekend. We have pride and performance, and we’re dangerous. And I can promise you, no one wants to win this game more than our players. GO MEAN GREEN!!!
  17. IF we win the next two games and enter the season finale at 5-6, do you (A) root for an upset win over UTSA knowing Littrell will almost certainly be back or (B) root for a loss so that Littrell almost certainly not be back?
  18. 100%. We started the year young and we’re seeing maturity as the season progresses. My gauge of coaching isn’t where you start but how you finish. The same group of kids can look totally different from week one to week twelve, one way or the other. We had a tough first half slate and but we’re seeing this team grow. Given the youth you mentioned, I’m not willing to give up on Litrell. Give him one more season and that’s his make or break.
  19. Maybe. Maybe not. You’re assumption is that if a new coach comes in, he automatically would be able to bring a stellar QB with him. But keep in mind, Litrell has a pretty good track record (except of late) with QBs. See Foles, Trubisky, & Fine. We took a swing with Ruder and missed. I’m hanging my hopes with Drummond or another transfer. With how’ve been able to run the ball this year with no passing threat and improvement on defense, I’ll give Litrell another year vs starting from scratch.
  20. Oh yes, Aune has made some terrible throws. Like I said, he’s been subpar. We need a QB for sure. I’ve actually wondered what this offense would’ve looked like with Bean this year. Bean was not a good passer but we’re missing his athleticism.
  21. I’ll give it to you that the QB play is far from stellar, actually subpar. But we also have no one to throw to. Injuries and departures have depleted our WR corp, and our RBs for that matter. Our offense is playing with bare bones talent but we’re still playing physical football. We need a QB yes and maybe Drummond is the answer? If we can get healthy and find ways to push it downfield, we might be able to run the corner.
  22. Yes, USM is a bad team but we completely dominated this game. We’re closer than you give credit for to be being a good team. You may not like it but this team is tough and shows grit, and they get that from their head coach. Be prepared. Littrell will be back next season. I’m not giving up on our kids and our fan base shouldn't either.
  23. We finish the season 5-7. We beat two bad teams in USM and FIU and pull a victory on homecoming against an overrated UTEP. This team hasn’t quit playing hard. We’re just both young and dealing with lots of injuries but there is a lot of fight in this team, which I appreciate. Another unpopular opinion, but it’s my belief Littrell will be back next season due to the points I just made. But next year will be make or break for him. I feel like we finish strong enough and his previous success buys him one more year.
