So with Earle transferring and Ruder moving on, if some P5 came and snatched Rogers, would we have anyone besides JD Head?

We had a true freshman on the roster this season, Dylan Gebbia. So it'd be Head and Gebbia. I wonder if Stone leaving is an indication that Rogers is staying though.

I hope so but I don’t trust anything until the first game week comes. Most of the spring we were led to believe Jace Ruder was the clubhouse leader as the starting quarterback only for him to become a linebacker by the end of the season. Then we had players at other positions that transferred out dang near to fall practice. This portal stuff has everything out of whack.

Do we know for sure that Rogers will graduate this spring or does he need to wait until grades are in to be able to use the free transfer?

Everything that Rogers has stated indicates that he is planning on returning.

Don’t know about his grades but do know that, unless he took a hiatus from school, this spring would be his 10th semester and even at the minimum fulltime per semester credit hours of 12, he’d be right around the number of credits needed to graduate.

With the numbers this system has put up I do not believe it would be hard to go to the portal to find a quality quarterback

My thoughts as well and there are a ton of quarterbacks in the portal. If Rogers leaves, I'd want EJ Warner in the portal.

if you have quality qb this will be on going problem.  I think you need to have a very good O-line.  Good O-line can make qbs look better.

For one, he stated in the recent DRC Mean Green newsletter that "We have a lot of confidence heading into the off season.  We understand how close we are."

Last March Gumms was talking about why he chose to stay at North Texas and how spring workouts were going with the new staff while on Sanoe’s show. A week later he entered the portal. Until week 1 of the 2024 season comes, I’m not convinced of anything.

A good QB, maybe.  But the odds of having another QB on Rogers' level are very, very low.

Seriously though, Patrick Mahomes was still a part-time baseball player until Morris took over the offense at Tech and had his breakout college season in Morris’ first year. 

Then at Incarnate Word, Morris took a high school option quarterback that NOBODY else wanted and developed him into a guy who is currently getting $2M offers in the transfer portal from SEC and Big 10 schools. 

Rogers has played at four schools in five years during his college career and his only GREAT season has been his lone season in the Morris offense. 

Our quarterback will be good next season. Whoever he is.

He looks like a more accurate Jason Bean. Most of these highlight reels start with a 40yrd+ bomb. Interesting that his started with a 40+ yard QB draw.
