I don't think we have the numbers to red shirt anyone this year. It's all hands on deck.

I havent seen but has anyone seen Nick Smith? Hoping we can keep his redshirt and have a dynamic combo for Jeffrey WIlson's senior year with him and Smith.  Smith reminds me alot of Wilson just a hair smaller.

From my count here is who has NOT played. Correct me if I am wrong.  If they are highlighted in Red then I believe their shirt is still good.

Unless I missed something only three scholarship players have not played:  Smith and I think most can see why; NT is well stocked with running backs.  Anthony, an offensive lineman who was on crutches. Hair-Griffin which is somewhat surprising because NT needs speed at receiver, but he is learning the position.

There were not many freshmen signees, and very few of them were highly recruited.  Based on that, I am pleasantly surprised at the apparent quality of the freshmen class.  Fine and Hamilton certainly belong on the field and several others are getting good minutes.

I believe the person that said Pirtle should be red, I think Blake Patterson should be reda, and I know damn well Mitch Cason should be red unless he is holding field goals or something because he surely hasn't seen the field at quarterback this season.

With the way our WRs are playing so far, I'm thinking tossing Pirtle out there might be a good idea. He and Mason obviously have chemistry and it might help Mason ease into being the starting QB a bit more. He doesn't need to be in the 2-deep but let him in on a few snaps here and there. Has anybody heard anything about him so far this season?

Yeah, I felt like I missed a chunk of players but I had looked at it so long I was looking right over the easiest position QB.  Good eyes. It is fixed.

Be nice when Mason Fine gets the other half of his HS receiving tandem on the field whether it be this year or next.

I read where Jason Pirtle runs a 4.7 forty, but 2 of his fellow Oklahomans who played years ago at Tulsa, namely Howard Twilley who was no speed-burner and  former Tulsa U great and Seattle Seahawk Hall of Famer Steve Largent ran a 4.6 forty.  Both ran excellent routes & could catch anything thrown their direction.  Good to have good possession receivers on the squad to complement any speed burners on this team now or in the near future.

Ive been saying this from the start with Fine and your right on point.. SL wants to bring a QB every year and I think we should bring in that QBs top target or at least 1 of them. Doing this will help that QB ease into the playbook and have a certain sense of trust with someone plus it also adds to our skill depth as well. People may not agree, but that QB having someone to talk and to help with studying film and even just going out and throwing passes.

With the way out receivers have been playing so far, I just don't see how it would hurt. Plus, to add to your point of chemistry, mason and Jason are incredibly close (from everything I've read and watched) so let's make sure Jason stays interested and doesn't transfer. Who knows if that would affect Mason at all but let's not chance it...

Raymond Berry had one leg shorter than the other and no speed. He played JUCO ball prior to smu.

He was 6' 2" and hung onto everything he touched.  In 13 years with the Colts he fumbled once.  He and Jonny Unitas could read each others minds.

When the Cowboys hired him as a couch, he ran some sideline routes to show how it was done.  After he kept touching his toes a few inches out of bounds, he told them the field was wrong.  They laughed.  The next day he brought a tape measure.  When they measured the field, they found it was almost a yard too narrow.
