Short of RV and Capper throws chairs through the office windows of the MVC and ESPN, what do you think they can do when awful announcers keep calling us North Texas State?

They can do whatever the hell it takes. If it takes throwing chairs then do it. The excuses ingrained into the fibers of this fan base is disgusting. Always an excuse no matter the scenario.

These aren't CUSA announcers, THEY'RE MISSOURI VALLEY CONFERENCE ANNOUNCERS.  Other than a polite email to some TV producers and maybe even the MVC office who probably don't really give a hoot about what a visiting school thinks of their broadcasters, there is not much anyone from our school can do about it.

Can we agree that this is what it is: LAZY ANNOUNCING.

Coach just messed up, Todd Egan (spelling ?) is a pass first pg that doesn't get the TOs, so we cut the lead because the ball swung. Now Coach sub'd in the other 2 pgs who average high TOs. Let's see if he was right.

Brown and Reese are better than Eaglin, but I agree Eaglin does move the ball much better. Eaglin has played very very limited minutes this season. We will see if we can hold onto the ball.

So dribbling, rebounding, attacking the basket, shooting the ball, hitting the three, and playing defense don't matter in your opinion?

Those things only matter if you are doing these things so well, you are breaking down the defense more often than you are turning it over. We turn it over a looot.

29:33 Assist to Turnover ratio for #52 coming into tonight's game.  He's middle of the pack when it comes to rebounds.

The female commentator noted that SIU was not shooting free throws well and stated that she asked the SIU coach about how to improve poor free throw shooting. She stated the SIU coach said the players are supposed to spend time outside of practice working on free throws. That advice on this board would get a poster a boatload of -1's.  It is interesting that that comment was either missed or overlooked.  You want to improve Free throw shooting?  Be a gym rat.

Hank/Benford talked about the team's abysmal free throw shooting in pre-game.

BTW, the Mean Green have sunk to 58.3% on their free throw shooting for the season.  Fellow conference mate FIU is shooting 59.8% putting us dead last in the conference.  We're almost dead last in the nation (out of 351 schools).

We're now ranked 347 out of 351 teams in free-throw percentage:

http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/statistics/team/_/stat/free-throws/sort/freeThrowPct/count/321

If we were an average free-throw shooting team (68%), it would have meant 3 more points a game. Enough to beat Idaho and Samford, all else being equal, and make this Southern Illinois rematch a two-possession game.

this is extreme, but could one not threaten a law suit? I'm no law person but surely there is some kind of breach of contract when continuously we are called by the wrong name.  We are the University of North Texas.  Question, no answer.

The only way to change it is to complain.

The announcers were Mike Trude (email: trude@siu.edu) and Kelly Burke (Twitter: @KellyBurkeSprts, email here). I sent them this note:

I'm an alumnus of the University of North Texas.

During last night's broadcast, you referred multiple times to the University of North Texas as "North Texas State." That hasn't been the name of the school since 1988.

Please avoid this mistake in the future. It makes it look like you didn't prepare adequately for the teams you were covering. It also makes UNT alumni crazy.
