I found this interesting from NOVASMU on the ponyfans site:

This is a list of the ten most outscored teams in history (through 4 games in a season) that currently play in the FBS.

Year -Team PF - PA [Difference]

1916 SMU Mustangs 3 - 245 [242]
1918 Stanford Cardinal 8 - 242 [234]
1888 Rutgers Scarlet Knights 0 - 231 [231]
1904 Florida Gators 0 - 202 [202]
2014 SMU Mustangs 12-202 [190]
2010 New Mexico Lobos 41 - 225 [184]
1957 Indiana Hoosiers 7 - 183 [176]
2006 FAU Owls 20 - 192 [172]
1973 UTEP Miners 37 -209 [172]
1993 Temple Owls 45 - 214 [169]

If this is seriously the game from today both TCU and SMwho fan bases should be ashamed. That is pitiful.

It's from today, but the author posted that it was from the middle of the second half.

See that group of 20 people to the left of SMU's 86 person band, that's the SMU student section.

SMU just needs to give it up and save the money for hoops. They are too small and irrevelant in their own market and state to draw any decent support. Unless they have the perfect solution come forward, to allow the full paying of players as legitimate beyond just a few thousand dollars, they have no chance. They should just play with Trinity and McMurry and other small D-2 and D-3 teams. Doak Walker and Eric Dickerson aren't coming back...

Legalizing the paying of players won't help SMU. They were only successful when they could cheat and out bid Texas and A&M for players. They wouldn't be allowed to do that under the new system.

Plus, UT and A&M are so advanced at cheating and have so much more resources than SMU nowadays, SMU couldn't even cheat their way to the top again.

They are, at best, a small private middle of the pack G5. They just need to accept their fate.

Exactly. They just need to try and be a great basketball school and get an invite to the Big East to join the other private, non-FBS football playing schools in a big-time league. That is what I'd recommend. It is ironic that the Big East would be there ultimate goal--again...if they could turn into a regular, nationally ranked program, they could easily carve out a niche in this area of the country where football is king by a mile and basketball is always second or third. They would easily surpass any of the Texas schools in interest, just by playing teams like Georgetown, Marquette, St. John's, etc...

24,682? Pics or it didn't happen.

I watched the game and the stands were not too bad for most of the first half. Then people just did not come back. By the end of the game there were the same amount of TCU and SMU fans. TCU only travels well for Baylor, Texas, and bowl games. SMU does not travel at all.
