Got room for yet another OU quitter?

Recommended Posts

Austin Haywood:

Signed by OU in 2010. Redshirted 2010, played in 6 games and caught 6 passes this year. Is quitting now and transferring a midterm.

Third or fourth OU offensive player to quit and leave the team since the fall practice began. Former 5-star halfback Jermie Calhoun was the big name to leave.

Can't really see why this kid would leave OU because the two guys ahead of him are both seniors. Must have got into a pissing match with the coaches and lost.

If we ever decide to use a tight end, this kid has some skills. Hopefully, his high school coach has one of our former Big 12 coaches' cell phone numbers.

In digging for information, found a funny thread on Soonerfans.com about this kid. The funny stuff isn't so much about the kid quitting, but OU - ranked #11 in the country, 6-1, with a Heisman candidate at QB - has fans complaining about...

...drum roll please...

...lack of use of the tight end...

...lack of imagination by their offensive coordinator...

...lack of a run game:

That's funny, funny stuff. It's like McCarney said on the radio show tonight, he knows everyone in the stands is a coach. He said Florida had 92,000 fans in the stands every Saturday when he was there. He knows they are here. OU has them, too...

...gentlemen, we have arrived! We bitch and complain every bit as much, and about the same things, as the big schools' fans do! Now, if our beloved boys could win as much as OU and Florida to legitimize our complaining!

Are we sure this TE doesn't have diabetes?

When did Calhoun leave???? I definitely missed that news.

Calhoun, last month along with Garland NF's Jonathan Miller: http://eye-on-collegefootball.blogs.cbssports.com/mcc/blogs/entry/24156338/31953291

Some other Texas prep RB transferred out of OU last year as well. They've had three running backs from Texas quit during the past two seasons. Plus Marcus Trice, a DFW area kid.

The surprising thing about Haywood is that he's from Moore, OK, the suburb wedged between Oklahoma City and Norman. So, he's like a real local product leaving the fold.

I'd take them all if they have any FBS eligibility left. Same as I'd take Garrett Gilbert. Sometimes a kid from a bigger school doesn't work out - Tyler Stradford. But, you really lose nothing if these local guys walk on.

y'all are ridiculous for calling people quitters you have no idea about their situation and don't know them from Adam.

Only if he leaves North Texas is he a quitter. If he leaves any other university to come here he's a good guy and smart to see the opportunity.

P.S. I didn't give you a -1.
