BOO!!!Β  We were trained for the hot weather.Β  That was going to be worth at least 14 points advantage.

98 degrees will still feel awfully hot to folks from the Bay Area.Β  It may actually feel comfortable to our guys, whereas 104 degrees feels hot to anyone, Texan or not.Β  This *could* actually improve our advantage.

Forecast is back up to 100+

The field will be like an oven and it is going to be absolutely scorching in the stands.

But all the members of our Athletic Department, the very people that allowed this 3:00 kickoff, will be holed up with their cold drinks and the ice sculpture in the Hub Club.

Actual image of the "sea of assistant athletic directors" pretending they're working while circling the ice sculpture.

My weather channel showing 97 and weather bug 98 right now. Β Hope it holds.Β

They didn’t have a choice in the time. ESPN dictated the kickoff time

ESPN schedules to cover time slots. It's up to the schools to determine if those proposed times are safe for the teams and the spectators and then work with ESPN to schedule accordingly. The Cal players are not adjusted to this heat and could suffer heat stroke, brain damage, or even possibly death.

If, and I hate to think of it, but if something catastrophic were to happen, do you think that ESPN lawyers would say that they were totally inflexible during a Heat Advisory and that the schedule could not be altered? Is Cal trying too hard right now to remain in good graces with ESPN because of the ACC deal that they are willing to compromise the safety of their football players as expendable pawns? All for what, a relatively meaningless nonconference game?

These aren’t sedentary middle aged men playing the game. They will be alright. I grew up playing in this weather, at times 10+ degrees warmer than what is projected at game time. We survived off of water and salt tablets. I think with the improvements in technology that these kids will survive. Ease off the sensationalism and drama.Β
