  4. I once witnessed a portly woman corner Tune in the club level and drunkenly ask him if he was the one who lost his dog. (Tune - takes a sad pause, looks down at cup): “Yeah that was me.” ”Did they ever find him?” ”No. No they didn’t.” (Everyone looks down awkwardly for 20 seconds.) Pretty sure that was the day Dunbar rushed for 313 against MTSU, but it’s all jumbling together. I’ll never forget that sad exchange though and try to channel that same energy into every Ray vote I give. EDIT: on further reflection, this was the 2012 MTSU game bc it was sunny. Now I feel like the guy who used to only post about Chase Baine from Lake Dallas for two years in our peak player and coaches family participation era of GMG.

  5. Can someone fill me in or direct me to more information on Ray? Intended use, meaning, so forth. Love dogs, am active in animal rescue, and don't want to misuse Ray in anyway. Thank you!

  6. i feel like we do not perform well in this look... although by that logic... .we should never wear grey... or black... or green... or white...

  7. Ahhh yes, the standard “you must be a grumpy old man because you don’t like black uniforms” response.

  8. I think you have to measure our performance against this years OOC games which is atrocious. We won't be in CUSA next year, so we shouldn't judge our "progress" on victories in our current conference. We've already shown we're not up to speed against AAC competition and that is where Seth should be judged. This year's trial period is over.

  9. Gomeangreen.com members - "SMU turned it around by branding to Dallas and getting those recruits! We should do the same!" UNT Football - "For ALL of North Texas" paired with proper regional branding. Gomeangreen.com members - "No, not like that!"

  10. I just don’t understand how you’re the victim when you refuse to comply. If you’re asked to leave, just leave. Maybe you think it’s unfair, but at least you’re not getting arrested (police wouldn’t have even been called). I’ve had many situations in life that I felt were unfair, but I didn’t do things to make it worse.

  12. We can blame it on money, but it is not. Or not directly. It is the Old Denton culture that does not demand better results. We the fans are part to blame for that. If we let the admin know these kind of results were simply not acceptable, changes would be made. But as a fanbase we waffle and find excuses why we can't be successful But at the end of the day all these excuses are absolute Bullshit.

  13. I would like to see UNT add an entire three-day mandatory spirit camp for incoming students, maybe up at lake Ray Roberts like aTm's Fish Camp, in addition to orientation. All incoming students that are junior level and below. But the administration and the faculty would have to be an active part of this. If any faculty stand against it, they can be shown the door. Faculty and TAs promote sports in class before game days, especially Football and Basketball.

  14. The OP asked for thoughts and I gave my thoughts. Oddly, color plays a big part in whether or not I like something. I’m a big fan of black unis for Iowa, Texas Tech, Vanderbilt, UCF, and others I’m not thinking of now because black is one of their colors. I think they’d look ridiculous in a green uni.

  18. I’m for any logo or symbol that would usher in a new era of multi-winning seasons. If we’d already been doing that with the expected good attendance (from a 44,000+ enrollment UNT) along with serious stadium expansion talk most likely we’re in the discussion of some P5 conference talk. (No school with 30K seat stadiums or blueprints for an expansion are part of that kind of talk). 🐎 SMU-haters would even have to admit the Stangs have all their cards on the table trying to get into a P5 league. Don’t know what their chances are but if they could buy their way into one I’d say don’t bet against them. The irony of it all is how SMU’s “lights out” NIL program could actually hurt them in that venture. Think about all the present Big 12 schools who could never compete with SMU as far as NIL is concerned? What a double-edged sword SMU’s NIL would be. GMG!

  20. I've lived and learned enough in life to know that when someone doesn't want to be here, then I don't want them here. I don't know anything about Wren, but if he leaves, then so be it. We have a solid position for hiring - do you see what he makes here? That is ridiculously competitive - especially when the top sport is a constant sad trombone.

  21. Let's take a trip down memory lane... The date is October 15th. UNT has just had our brakes beaten off by Marshall at home. It's a foregone conclusion it's not working & Littrell needs to go. Wheels are in motion. Conversations are being had. There are rumors swirling about NT already identifying "their guy", but waiting to pull the trigger at least until a winning season is officially ruled out if not until after the season is complete. The following week, NT loses a heartbreaker to a very good Malik-Willis led Liberty team. The end is almost in sight! 2 days later, Texas Tech fires Matt Wells mid-season. Less than 2 weeks later, on November 8th, Texas Tech comes to terms with Joey McGuire (NT's "guy"). Meanwhile North Texas is on a 2-game win streak, just allowing the wound to fester. I'd say Texas Tech's mid-year firing/hiring worked out pretty well for them so far! Then North Texas beat UTSA by happenstance, securing Littrell through a few more weeks for a bowl game. Well, we all know what happened in the bowl game. Wren cannot afford to "wait" again if he has someone he wants.

  22. Hot Fire. And I am right there with @golfingomez... I'm well aware that half the high schools and a quarter of the colleges do the Texas outline thing, and I too get my pom poms up all almost every single time

  23. Guys, at the end of the day it's just football. Nobody died, so I think "hate" is really over the top. On another note, I have been against making a coaching change during the season. However I have heard media praise for Georgia Tech and Nebraska for pulling the plug early in the season because it gives them more time to evaluate candidates . The the hardest words I learned in business were "maybe your right". Maybe they are.

  31. I’m done…don’t care how many wins. He hates the fans, he’s terrible with the media, and he is Eyore. And I don’t think he understands how the portal works. Nobody I know ever sees him out in Denton and I don’t think he does a good job of selling Denton. When the basketball coach can get the fans more excited about football than the actual football coach does, he’s not the right guy for the job.

  32. he could win the rest of the games and I would not keep him. He struck out twice against AAC teams and got destroyed by UNLV that is toward the bottom of MWC. No bowl wins. Plus he refuses to hire a qb coach.

  33. Win out, but that won’t happen. Losing to UTSA, UAB and WKU are almost certain at this point. There’s 6 losses. Gotta win vs Rice/FAU/LaTech

  35. I love the helmet, just unsure of the black pants. Green doesn't seem to go with black as well as other colors like blue or red.

  38. It's really kind of interesting. We have a winning percentage of .382 since we moved up to D-1 in 1995. Old Denton, as you mention, doesn't care or actually openly loathes UNT Sports, so I feel like the results we have seen since then aren't really because of Old Denton's culture. But what I do agree with you about this is that culture within the university is that they just don't care enough to fund winning. And that culture ain't leaving anytime soon... What is new in Denton, though, is that there are about 8000 diehards to the program, with 17 of them who fund the program more than the budget gives from the administration. That didn't exist 20 years ago. But those BMDs just don't seem to put a premium on winning, either. They love the access that they get here, the sway they get to carry with the AD and President. But if winning was what truly mattered, we would never accept even half of the results we accept. Instead, we accept the reality that firing a coach is almost completely built on affordability of that buyout. And to your point, that is completely on an Old Denton culture that views the program as an expense, not as a revenue source that can be cultivated to bring in more dollars and eyeballs to the university. Maybe that is all on the fact that the university's location has always been an easy one to take advantage of, as we get tons of students to come here just for being a large public school near DFW that is fairly easy to attend. All I know is that this mindset will get us about 2 or 3 wins a year in the AAC...the budgets we are facing at the other schools, especially with coaching and facilities, will make the SBCUSA budgets we have faced look like a small business. But I'll believe that will change only when I see it change. As I have said, you cannot want to win more than the administration/BMDs. That will never work in your favor as a fan. Its why 2% of the UNT alumni care about our teams or even enjoy coming back to Denton again for a game...

  39. Ehhh...it's fine. The Texas state outline is low hanging fruit for programs. I think we're the 3rd or 4th to do it? Never been a fan of putting numbers on the side of the helmet and like others have said, I think a white helmet with green graphic would look better.
