Seeing as we now reside in Houston we do not get to attend many Mean Green games. My son's 11th birthday is this week and he chose 4 to take friends to the Rice/NT game as his party. I reached out to the Athletic Department, specifically Wren Baker. He responded immediately. They really went above and beyond. A personal note from both him and coach as well as an autographed football! He opened it this morning and it trumped all other gifts he received.44 points

I stopped in at the new Buc-ees at 114 and 35W this afternoon, thinking they would likely have some cool UNT apparel or gear since they are so close to Denton. Nope! Nary an item. Big display shelves of UT Austin, Texas A&M and TCU merchandise, but nothing UNT-related. This is unacceptable and it is within Denton County. We should complain loudly and often until we are heard.14 points

Sadly, taps and caps Denton is the same. They have growlers for all schools in Texas (popular schools) but no north texas. I asked and they said they are working on it. Not going back until they support our school, in our city, if they want our business Their sept. 16th, 430 pm fb post shows growlers of major schools in texas...no north texas11 points

Well done Athletic Director! Well done! The Wren™ reacts well to what seem to be the little things.6 points

Glad we still get to play the games & they're not decided by a computer.5 points

Cheap gas, and probably more importantly, clean bathrooms. My wife and daughter insist on clean bathrooms...5 points

Buc-ee's has a Twitter account at @bucees. That's a good place to give them some grief for not carrying UNT gear. A lot of companies and organizations make addressing social media pressure a priority. (Including President Smatresk. He gets a regular report emailed to him about what people are saying about UNT on social media.)4 points

Missed the part where I mocked the promotion or cause or praised UNT athletics, but point taken and thanks for your service to Dallas.4 points

Pretty classy of SMU to finally return all the love @emmitt01 has shown them over the years.4 points

for some fun, go to the front counter and tell the clerk there that you found the OSU and the TT merchandise. Where do they keep the North Texas merchandise. I love it when they get on the PA system looking for somebody that knows. GO MEAN GREEN3 points

Back to the subject at hand. UNT did a great job with streaming the BC game. I have already paid my 6.95 for the Rice game. I would like to think a school with a 6 billion dollar Endowment can figure out how to stream the game.3 points

What's the basis for the bold? Air Force and Navy have over 20 bowl appearances each. Navy has missed only 1 bowl game since 2003. Air Force only 1 miss since 2007. The service academies might not win a national title in this FBS environment, but they have had no trouble making bowl games. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_NCAA_Division_I_FBS_football_bowl_records3 points

If you travel from Houston to the DFW area it is one of the few places where my wife and daughters will go to the bathroom. Buc's is awesome. However having no UNT gear should be rectified. Not liking Buc's is un-Texan!3 points

This looks like somebody is filming with their 1990's camcorder. If would have known the quality would be this bad and before I paid 7 dollars, I would have just stuck with the radio.2 points

Ole Miss was bound to win against Georgia eventually....kinda like NT is eventually gonna win one on the road. Today?2 points

That is a solid idea. Now if I could just get my kids to teach me how to do social media.... I am old shcool. No twitter, no facebook, no snap chat or instagram. This board is my only foray into any type of social media. I don't judge those who do but it isn't my cup of tea.2 points

I have always thought that the good should always be able to do the big things. What makes them great is their attention to the detail on the little things. Happy birthday Jack and go Mean Green2 points

I love this look. I love the all black. IT is one of our colors and I think it looks amazing on the field. These were well done unis.2 points

You would miss it. Typical Quoner, everything's a joke.2 points

Do we laugh at SMU for having to give tickets away to what should be a premier game or do we envy SMU for having the gumption to give tickets away to fill the stadium for what should be a premier game? I need to know which direction to direct my ire.2 points

I still feel like I have no idea what our team can/not do.2 points

I streamed the Bethune Cookman game through the CUSA site and the $6.95 is worth it. I was trying out my new internet connection out here in the boonies and the stream worked like a charm.2 points

I've got the CUSA feed but there's no audio. I'll be fine with that as long as the UNT radio feed isn't too far off.1 point

On July 15th, I went down to Southside Ballroom for a Slightly Stoopid concert. I was there very early because I'm always first in line for this band. I didn't realize that it was right across the street from the main Dallas Police station. They had the patrol cars of the fallen officers out there and officers in full dress paying their respects. It was a sobering experience.1 point

Yeah, this is probably one of those situations. Not sure the first responder honoree demo is the same as the random middle school parent, but the AD could probably find a consultant to help make sure.1 point

Honestly I can't tell if Army looks that good or if UTEP looks that bad. Like most things the truth is likely somewhere in the middle.1 point

My concern isn't the fans. When players/teams have reputations, it affects officiating. The more discussion about this, the greater the risk of public perception (officials) being influenced. IMO I don't think anyone needs to create linkage between the SMU and Florida events by discussing it. If they were dirty or not, people will begin to see it as pattern. I hope nothing happens tomorrow or this could go from filling down time between games to serious conversation.1 point

If it's on the home team to provide a live stream of non TV games, don't expect too much from this game. I've worked quite a few games in this gigantic stadium. It's always a hassle. I'm not sure the Jtron crew is going to provide much of a feed.1 point

are you above riding in a school bus? seems an odd point to add. and no...I've never taken the ferry. nor was I necessarily lobbying for it. I am however familiar with both New York metro area public transportation and that particular area of the Hudson Valley. unless you know someone with a car willing to pick you up on the east side of the river, the ferry will be your cheapest and most convenient route. if you take the train out of the city, now probably at least $40 round trip...you'll have at least another $40 cab ride from Peekskill or Manitou...a cab that I'm not entirely sure will be permitted onto campus, leaving you with a far longer walk than a mile from the main gate to the stadium...even if it is allowed to bring you in (if someone else has done it, please let me know) you'll be stuck in the game-day parking queue waiting to get cleared. keep in mind...West Point is not a town. the entirety of the activities are conducted on the military base/campus.1 point

If they would have announced they were streaming sooner, I'd have made sure at least one restaurant would have been streaming it. For better or worse, I now have game tickets and non refundable hotel reservations instead. Go Mean Green! Beat the feathers off the procrastinating Owls! By the way, if someone else wants to do it, I know the TV in the banquet room at Rudy's in Allen has an accessible HDMI port. You could book the banquet room and set something up if you have the technology. Their WiFi isn't great, so you'd probably need a way to stream via cellular.1 point

The FL coach and the brainless faction of the Florida fanbase should be ashamed of themselves... but alas, the FL coach and social media idiots are too stupid to be ashamed. Their coach could do a bunch by simply publicly apologizing for his behavior, which includes lies about a targeting penalty history and not recognizing that their TE tripped Wheeler after being beat on the play. and, of course, any article out there on sports walmart or cnn.com or whatever surface level type of sports website won't tell the whole story...just include info that the Florida coach is mad about a "dirly" or "late"(even though it wasn't late, but low hit on their QB)... instead of exposing him as a fraudulent crybaby.1 point
