UNT's Derek Thompson joins staff at Denton High

Derek Thompson is staying in the town where he developed into notable player in local football history.

The former UNT quarterback, who led the Mean Green to a win over UNLV in the Heart of Dallas Bowl, is set to join the staff at Denton High.

Just curious, what did he major in? If it wasn't Kinesiology, maybe this is for the short-term while he continues to pursue getting an opportunity in the NFL.

Man, if there is anything that can help us crack the ice on recruiting the Denton big boys into Apogee, this is it. Get our alumni involved as coaches in Denton.

That all starts when the first step foot on campus as students: are we welcoming them and making them feel like Denton can be their second home?

Derek at my old high school... I sure like this one :thumbsup:

The skilll to max out your talent is a skill that is exactly what you need to teach the kids, I can imagine Derek being becoming a very good coach down the line.

Also: the more of our alumni are coaching in texas high schools the better.
