  1. To the SA lurkers and trolls: 11-1 ain't nothing to be ashamed of
  2. it will probably change. They have discussed this on the CUSA board and the notion is that UAB's return will bring about a more permanent schedule rotation ( a la the B1G and SEC, also 14 team conferences w/ 7 team divisions and 8 conference games). with UAB, teams will play 6 division games and 2 foes from the East. 3 home division games, 3 away division game. It's possible they slot UAB in with Southern Miss and LA Tech on our schedule, but I think our AD will request a change like your suggesting. Look for us to make a consecutive road trip to either Houston or San Antonio in 2017
  3. Ticket allotment size: in conference USA, home teams must provide 400 complimentary tickets to the visitors. These are used for player guests, recruits, traveling personnel. Home teams also provide another 1,000 for consignment. Visiting teams have the option to request up to 600 additional consignment tickets, but this must be done at least a month prior to the game otherwise the home team can sell those tickets
  4. did anybody get a screenshot of the tweet? I didn't get to see the uniform combo being discussed and would appreciate getting to see it.
  5. Wow, I can't believe I didn't see this earlier...I would love to experience the club level and elite parking. i'm guessing it's too late to get in on these?
  6. That picture looks great! I watched part of the UConn-Maine game last night via stream and it was pretty crisp. Here's a link of TV stations carrying the North Texas vs SMU game. There are over 75 stations nationwide in 30+ states carrying the game. Most are free to pick up with an antenna for any cord cutters out there. Texas DMA's that have a live OTA broadcast: - Amarillo - Beaumont - Corpus Christi - El Paso - San Angelo - San Antonio - Tyler/Longview - Waco/Temple/Killeen
  7. Here's the comprehensive list of all the stations carrying the game. Looks like some non-DFW folks might be able to pick it up with an antenna: http://conferenceusa.com/documents/2016/9/1/2016_C_USA_FB_on_TV_Week_1.pdf
  8. Would you be able to use your magic tweeting ability to get a local station, like TXA21, to pick up the ASN broadcast? Would love to be able to record it for future viewings
  9. I think away game tickets have typically been kept off the online portals because the Ath Dept has tried to make it harder for the home team fans to purchase them. Away game tickets, at least in the past, were sold at face value with no markup from NT. SEC fans try to buy these tickets from the G5 and FCS schools because they're the cheapest way into a sold out game. Scalpers also try to buy several when they have the chance. away game tickets were at one time only available to MGC members but I believe that got changed after some negative feedback. By selling them in person and on the phone, I think they were trying to limit the number of non-MG fans purchasing the tix. all of this and a buck & eight cents will buy you something off the dollar menu, but I think I captured the spirit of the away ticket polixy
  10. Update: total raised - $3,586 (July 13th) Great job Mean Green nation! Only a few hundred dollars left, and we'll be able to send Coach Slekis and our distance runners on a much needed training trip. These athletes do a great job representing our university and can hopefully nab a conference championship in the near future. Proud to be associated with folks like you who can make this happen
  11. Bump It's been 2 months and the team has only raised half of the $4k. If you're able, give a little loose change to support some Mean Green student athletes. http://m.meangreensports.com/m/sports/c-xc/spec-rel/070816aaa.html
  12. Does your company allow matches for athletic donations? Actually, this question is open to anyone. i ask because the company I work for offers a 2:1 match program but specifically excludes athletic donations. I had a co-worker who tried to submit anyways and the employee who works in the gift match dept called the number and found out that it was sport specific and rejected the match. Anyways, I'm interested in how many companies match and if they do match, will they match athletic donations.
  13. Definitely a cover up culture, but the football team sure seems to have fostered a rape culture as well. was looking at ratings, and Baylor games really don't receive high ratings. They have a small fan base . Don't forget, this is a school that has only ever sold out one bowl game http://musingsofstef.blogspot.com/2016/05/dear-baylor-i-no-longer-have-affection.html?m=1
  14. http://m.meangreensports.com/m/sports/c-xc/spec-rel/051016aaa.html a couple of thoughts: 1. Really surprised our AD wasn't able to provide the 4K for such a critical training trip. You would think as overpaid as RV is, he would just write the check himself. Miser 2. Also surprised one of the 17 hasn't already covered this entire expense. If I had enough money to be one of the 17, I'd fund this in a heartbeat. Instead, I'll only be able to give a benjie.
  15. http://espn.go.com/espn/otl/story/_/id/15191102 They have a rape culture at Baylor.
  16. Didn't realize that Vito had written a story without giving you due credit, Eagle 1855. This belongs here instead of his thread... 18. they did. I watched him walk over to the windows and buy three tickets. I saw him sitting in the wing in the 2nd quarter and went over and introduced myself and told him that I'd love to see him down their on the field the next year. The girlfriend snorted in derision, but he graciously replied that he liked our stadium and the proximity to his hometown. He chatted about the Lancaster Tigers and basketball for about 2 minutes and then I left. He definitely seemed like a class act
  19. Fun story about Demarcus Ayers of Houston... In 2012, he came to the North Texas vs Arkansas State game. Unfortunately, Coach Mac and his staff forgot to add Demarcus to the recruit list and the folks running the table wouldn't let him into the game due to his name not being on the list and other related NCAA related rules. He had on his Lancaster letter jacket and had his girlfriend and her little brother in tow with him. I'm a nosy person so I stood there and witnessed the entire conversation as North Texas personnel turned away a three-star athlete who had multiple P5 offers because our coaching staff or ticket office had dropped the ball
  20. Mods, Not to be "that guy", but I posted a very similar thread last night which got deleted. In my thread, I even talked about the positive that if we timed it right (this week), Tennessee might pay the buyout. RV's buyout is nothing to them. They'd gladly pay it to ensure that our team shows up in Knoxville to give them win #6 and bowl eligibility
  21. In November 2014, I posted the following with a poll. I am unable to see the results of the poll now, but I remember over 100 people voting at the time. There were some telling remarks and comments in the original thread. It's been 11 months since that post above and the accompanying poll. I'd love to see what GMG thinks today.
  22. Denton born and raised. When I was in 5th grade, my buddy and his family were going to the Baylor game and asked my parents if I could go with them. My mom and dad said, "yes" We destroyed them, and I loved it. I ended up getting invited to every other (home) game that year, and we went 5-0. It was magical! My buddy ended up moving to Virginia that following summer, but I was hooked. I missed the season opener the next year (Florida Atlantic), but I was back after my mom got free tickets for the Middle Tennessee State game, and I've never missed a home game since then.... 61 consecutive and counting (and 66 of the last 67) Have had some great times in Fouts and Apogee. Have also had some pretty miserable times too. Like southside said above, my worst day at a North Texas football game is better than pretty much any other day. Now that the "real world" is here, it's not as easy as those carefree days of yesteryear...I just hope I can outlast RV. I love this place way more, because I bleed green.
