Sure, there are scenarios where these things are possible. But nobody writing these articles knows anything more about the possibilities than you or I do. Further, even if they did know more, they are not going to write an article laying out the reasons it won't happen, or the reasons some third possibility that doesn't benefit the B12 could happen. They aren't doing unbiased rational analysis. It's like relying solely on MSNBC or Fox for news -

Checking in for the first time in like 6 weeks. I did indeed stop checking in semi-regularly after the basketball team fell apart. Doesn't help that I don't expect football to be good. But yes, the off-season goings on in the NIL era are too depressing. If you don't think your team is gonna be good this very season, why stick with it, not like anyone can really build anything truly long term at the G5 level anymore. Why follow any specific player, if he is gone once he flashes his potential on the field.- 2
