Things I've Never Seen In A College Game Before

A kicker who kicks three kick offs out of bounds.

A coach who uses all his timeouts in the second half......on decisions.

This crap is getting really old. I no longer go to games expecting to win. I now go wondering what part of Dodge's system will fail on that day. Will it be the offense this week? Or the special teams ? Or the defense? Or in some cases....all three.

I could be wrong, but I think we actually put the backup place kicker in...just to have him kick it out of bounds too. What are they working on in practice? Clearly not extra points and kick-offs.

I stand by my statement that Dodge should promote an open tryout for kicker. Out of so many thousands of students, there has to be someone on-campus that can kick a field goal.

I kicked in HS, I can definitely kick it so it DOESN'T go out of bounds.

I don't believe I've ever seen a series in which our TD leads to setting FAU up on our own 45 yard line?

Touchdown, but usportsman-like conduct penalty to be assessed on the kick off,

Then we miss the extra point,

Then we kick off from our own 15 yard line because of the penalty on the TD,

But because it goes out of bounds never starting play, it's assessed from where the out-of-bounds infraction is normally awarded to at the 40, all the way to our own 45?

Just unreal??????

Agree on all three areas. Kicking the ball out of bounds once is a mistake. Kicking it out three times is horrible. After the second one I would have my kicker just squib it.

I agree with SUMG that this crap is getting old and that I no longer go to the games expecting to win. I assume that we are going to lose the game, I am just not sure how it is going to happen. There are still two and one half years left on the Todd Dodge experiment. That could be a VERY long time. You know, the saddest part of this is that getting beat just does not hurt as much as it once did. At one time if we had lost a game in the fourth quarter like we did last night to Florida Atlantic I would have been furious. I would have cussed, fumed, tried to kick something and been really hot. Last nigt, I just picked up my stuff and drove home. That might have been the saddest thing of all.

The back up kicker was in to attemptthe onside kick. When that failed, they went ahead and left him in to kick it out of bounds.

SUMG and Huff...I understand what you are saying...just do keep coming to the games. It's hard sometimes to be a Mean Green fan, but fans who still come to the games through these sort of periods will be all that more satisfied when the w's do come. The "on and off" again fan, well, he will never know what the true Mean green fan feels.

Thanks for the support...hope to see you at the next game. I'll be there!

GO MEAN GREEN!

The "ways" to lose discussion was had in our group also.

I resolve, as one of the few blindly optimistic posters left on the board, to not predict another win until we win another.

Reverting back to positive, I will be there everytime they turn on the lights.

Side discussion:

** I wear green boxer shorts every game, my good luck shorts, and pretty much the same NT shirt (shirts on cold days) and hat every game. Is it time to get new shorts, shirts and hat?

** Is my mental and quiet aside jinxing our team? Is it me? At 13-0, I looked at my buddy and said, "I won't be optimistic until the 00:00 shows and we have more points than they do." Last week at ULL, I went over to a ULL fan when we were up by 10, and asked if fans were allowed on the field after the game. He, thinking we were contemplating storming the field after a win, said, "I wouldn't try it. They have strict security on the field until after all the players are off." I said, "Oh no (kind of trying to humbly put the guys at ease), you guys are going to ultimately win the game. I am just checking to see if my kids can play football on the field after the game." He laughed, nervously.

But (sighing),

GMG (semi-unenthusiastically tailing off at the end)
