Until recently good friend of mine was treasurer of the LSU Tiger Club . This is the alumni arm that raises funds for the Athletic Depart, who in return request release of those monies for approved expenditures . When LSU hired Baylor's women's basketball coach the response was "great, now we can lose several more millions in women's basketball." -

Rating the NT headcoaches
An always (to me) interesting topic; Rating the NT head coaches Keep happy and at NT Delong-Softball Burton-WBB Akers-Women Golf Hedlund-Soccer Jury still out Hodge-MBB I am happy with his results thus far, hard to judge with the horrible NIL situation Morris-Football Have liked his coaching of the offensive side, think he will improve the defense Calcatera-Men Golf New hire Stone-Women Tennis It was past time for a change, and she is a good choice Marshall-Track, CC Great start, I have little doubt the track team will continue to get better under his leadership Porter-Volleyball Definitely elevated the program over the prior coach, want to see who she recruits as she loses some good-to-great players Questionable Roth-Women Swimming She is still here despite mediocre results, there has to be a rationale (ie: poor facilities to recruit to, desire to spend as little as possible on this team, etc.) She could be doing an excellent job considering these factors- 1

Very true. It's great for those schools that have that sports culture, but not all can or will. I have never been a fan of Title IX. I think it artificially forces schools to spend money and sponsor some women's sports (just to balance scholarships with men) that will always lose money and not draw fans. I remember when my high school in Texas started girls basketball in the mid-70's. The UIL didn't think girls had the endurance for full-court, so it was half-court style basketball. 3 girls played defense, then passed the ball off at mid-court to the other 3 girls on offense. After about 10 years it went to full court. Lacrosse is huge in the Northeast colleges, both men's and women's. It is making it's way into Texas high schools and club sports. Just like Hockey at the junior level is big here too now.
