  1. The distributions relate to current research expenditures. When we hit a certain threshold for two consecutive years, our allocation basically doubles. Tech and UH have already met that threshold and we are potentially close to do so.

  2. Seriously, why does every thread need this garbage?

  3. But no worries.. we have people here advocating that we still have the right guy to lead that ‘problem’ area.

  4. Not hard to figure out why we are. Especially when in the last two games I thing the other's teams backs have about two hundreds between them on the first five plays of the game.

  5. It is wild how different of a university academically we are from when I started in 06. Our football program on the other hand.....

  6. This is great, i'm excited to hear that we will be able to lower tuition for all of our students!

  7. Because some of us like to support the program instead of shitting on it like you do.

  8. I saved my solar eclipse glasses to wear at this game. Seemed like the best way to shield my eyes from the scoreboard. My better half and I will be there. She threatened to wear SMU colors after the last two games.

  9. I hope the series will be like my golf game. I usually lose most of the 1st 17 holes, but manage to win the 18th…it’s alway better to win the last game.

  10. We score 218? That would require 30 touchdowns, 2 field goals, and a safety. No way our defense forces a safety!!

  11. UNT has frozen tuition and fee increases since the start of COVID, the legislature is likely to freeze increases for the at least the next two years. As you've probably noticed, EVERYTHING is much more expensive than before COVID. If you've hired people locally, you know the job market is HOT in North Texas and salaries are booming. So despite the huge increase in costs for the university, it has already made serious sacrifices to NOT pass the expense along to the student.

  12. Opening night of HS playoffs and ESPN thinks it’s a good time to force a DFW area college game to move from Saturday to fill a schedule. ESPN has to die.

  13. My son and I have been in 106 since Apogee opened. Great seats. We have very good full field view and we don’t lose any down field play action. Close enough to the players to see what all they’re doing on the sideline, coaches players etc. The surrounding fans have been great, active but they don’t puke all over you. It’s been fun…now if we could only win more games ! CMG

  14. 206-207 (slight preference for 207) are the best seats in the house to me, but I don’t care anything about being right down by the bench. I’d rather have the height for viewing the actual game.

  17. Houston in 2022 had 388 doc degrees awarded Tech had 424 UNT had 315 Houston 2022 research expenditure 250 million Tech 315 million UNT2019 was 43 million 2020 was 84 million I couldn't find 2022 for unt These were two of the criteria Hope that helps explaing the funding

  18. UNT was already very much on its way to being a more and more respectable research university. Smatresk achieved quite a lot in that regard. This will do a lot to help UNT, Tech UH and TSU close the gap to A&M and UT. I doubt Baylor, TCU and SMU are thrilled though.

  26. The tweet doesn't tell the whole story. If y’all recall, former Tech coach Mark Adams was accused of making racial comments which he stated were related to Bible verses. Those comments were directed to a Tech player and referred to the player as a slave and Adams the master. That player Jaylon Tyson. He had a good case for immediate eligibility based on that incident which also resulted in Adams being fired. Based on how appeals have been going this year, this Tyson situation is unique. I don't expect many appeals to be won anymore.

  27. I think Burton is going to be a sustainable upgrade in coaching. Mitchell was a very good recruiter, but I think she lacked in game time coaching.

  32. Let me get this straight… we are advocating keeping a DC who has a team dead last in the entire division in what he is overseeing?! Am I getting this right?

  33. 22 points, 6 boards, 6 assists, 4 steals and some of y'all acting like he can't play at this level.

  34. On paper, this should be easier than UNI and some of our future opponents. Hopefully we keep the crowd momentum too and we can celebrate like it's 11/11/1918.

  35. I had a classic one last week. UTSA is lined up to go for it on 4th and inches. They are in the formation where you know it’s a QB sneak and the backs are going to push the QB from behind. Guy behind us yells, “Watch out for the reverse.” I wish I had a picture of the look that had to have been on my face.

  36. i'd rather listen to that then the guy in my section always screaming to "do your job", "wide receivers, run your route", "run", "pass".....he is a parent, but douchebaging annoying....plus, he doesn't always make the right call on the run/pass thing

  37. I'm in 106 on row 4 yelling every game. Apologies to the older man and his people that sit in front of me. I'm sure he gets tired of me yelling this is Freaking Horrible, Freaking hit someone. Stop arm tackling. It's an every week occurrence. Also, it seems every opposing team (except Temple) has had fans on my row.

  38. All for giving this D another year. Hell that seems to be UNT’s SOP. But the leash should be very short if the ride rolls into 2024. Now if there is an epic beat down in Dallas tomorrow I do predict change happens sooner. Either way, I’m headed to the game in green with family and friends hoping for a miracle.

  39. The fact is we've played the most difficult conference schedule and it's probably not even close. That being said, if we don't beat Tulsa and UAB, we will have earned our spot in the bottom third of the conference.

  40. https://www.insidehighered.com/news/government/state-policy/2023/04/20/leveling-playing-field-texas I brief explanation is given in the 7th paragraph under spreading the oil wealth. 75% is going to these universitys, with tech and houston each getting a third and one third split between unt and texas state.

  42. We literally can't be worse. We are the worst. Nowhere to go but up. And, no, eff all the fluff. It's deeper than talent. Players have a proven unwillingness to go get at it. We are showing 5 man boxes on medium downs over and over and over like idiots. We have been out of position at all 3 levels every game, countless times. We can't cover. We can't or refuse to tackle. And in situational D&D I don't know wth it is they are even trying to do. This is a bad hire. If not fired, it will be a bad hire in year 2. I think it's time to just agree that the guy wasn't ready. It's brutally clear. 40mothaphukkin a month. It's insane.
