  1. Im just reading post about how everyone is upset that we are 5-1 and we barely beat UTEP. How La Tech is pissed they lost to UAB. Then I started thinking about how I was in college. Then I realized these are 19, 20, and 21 year old kids who have been grinding in the winter, busting their ass in spring, dying during summer practice, practicing during the week, going to class, focusing on anything other than girls, dealing with life problems, taking tests, and being leaders in the community. And we are sitting here 5-1 for the first time in my lifetime bitching about COLLEGE KIDS not beating UTEP by 30 or more. They beat an SEC team in their house, then fly to back hills Virginia, then play an emotional game in conference, and then have to fly to the armpit of Texas. I think these COLLEGE KIDS deserve a lot more credit for being 5-1. I'm not going to proof read this rant sorry for the many grammatical errors.

  2. That's like saying Tulane downgraded from the "best AAC stadium" because they used to be leasing the Superdome. Now, they're in their own on-campus stadium. It's very nice, but obviously not nearly as nice as one of the nicest sports facilities in America. Sorry, but when you're leasing a stadium, you don't "have a stadium". Therefore, you cannot "have the best stadium".

  3. Thank you UAB for doing what we could not (but had every opportunity to). Beating La Tech put SOME life back into our pursuit of the west division. Now, for our fans who will inevitably say that UAB are now world beaters, allow me to introduce you to UAB’s one loss this season...the mighty Coastal Carolina (47-24) who boasts other wins over Campbell and Louisiana Lafayette. The path is still out there in front of us, and every team is still beatable. We just have to pull our heads out of our asses to do it.

  4. we should all be very happy with his body language. He's pissed off. His team has lost its swagger and is underperforming. This makes him sick to his stomach. Love me some Coach Littrell.

  5. This has not gotten as much attention as I think it deserves, but as much as we suffered last week having that last FG blocked against LaTech, we blocked a kick this week and we ended up winning by 3. I guess that is how the wheel turns.

  22. Halfway thru the season and we lost to the only team we played that had a winning record. Of our remaining games, only UAB is in the plus column. Until we beat someone that has won more than they have lost its difficult for me to gauge how good we really are.

  23. Non-sense to some makes total sense to progressive dreamers & from one who has been around college football the last 50 plus years. UNT for 47. Around these parts you get piled on because you have the audacity to forget our not so successful athletic psst & suggest a larger Apogee would help us get Top 25 schools into Denton. Sure we wouldn’t fill it all the time but neither are P5 schools filling their stadiums now but... they will with the right opponent when something is on the line. Note: When UNT hosts Texas Tech in a few seasons that game could easily draw 40,000 fans, but about 8K to 10K Red Raider fans are not going to get into Apogee unless they buy their tickets much earlier than Mean Green fans. UH was my first inspiration who I took to Denton upon transferring there actually thinking UNT could emulate much of what the Cougars did since the 1960’s when I first began following their advent into the Southwest Conference. Saw some pretty high brow stuff as a UH fan including the Astrodome match between Elvin Hayes & (then) Lew Alcindor. ✔️ Oh, well, I just remember in the annals of Texas college football when an Oklahoma-born HFC at UT totally ran out of Longhorn QB’s due to injuries. DKR then pulled a DB from the secondary named Allan Lowery—turned him into a QB who (as I recall) took his team to the Cotton Bowl that Fall. That make sense? Desperate times (& the rest of that quote). UNT has no power back at the moment who can do what #23 could do so might a a bit of creativity (a la Darrell Royal) be in order to get a sizable bone crunching back put in the backfield during certain situations? GMG!

  24. There was a moment in the LaTech post-game presser that struck the same way as well. He was answering a question about Hambone wearing 75, and it seemed like he was about to play into the AD's marketing staff wanting things that way, caught himself, and said, "no, I shouldn't say that." Took a beat, and gave again one of his go-to platitudes.

  25. False. UNT/UAB/LaTech could all 3 way tie if La Tech wins out and UAB wins all games except against UNT False 2: LaTech can lose to Mississippi State with no conference implications...

  28. https://freepicks.picksandparlays.net/more-free-picks/college-football-picks/southern-mississippi-at-north-texas-101318-college-football-picks-and-predictions/ The Mean Green have a great offense and it is going to really dominate over the Golden Eagles defense that has had its fair share of struggles on the season so far. Look for the Golden Eagles offense to be able to actually be able to do decent, but the pass defense of the Mean Green will slow down Abraham, which cannot be said for the Golden Eagles pass defense against Fine. Final Score Prediction, North Texas Mean Green win and cover ATS 35-24.

  29. We are 5-1 on the season. I was disappointed with the UTEP win last night but started to question myself and my expectations. I realize now that I didn’t just want a win, I wanted a blowout. I wanted to show the college football world that we were as good as everyone talked about after the 4-0 start and SMU/Arkansas dominations. After years of following this program I fell victim to believing the “miracle” season was here. We were going to elevate ourselves to the upper tier of college football. We’d be considered a powerful program that really should be playing in a higher tier conference. No longer would be little old North Texas. No longer would our Alumni send more time/money following UT and A&M instead of their own school. They’d have to believe. LaTech was just a hiccup. By coming back and beating the crap out of UTEP, maybe we’d get back some of the mojo. These were my thoughts and why these last 2 games have been so disappointing. I fell for the hype. I wanted it to be true and for the whole world to see UNT the way I want them to be. We are 5-1. Regardless of the scores we’re still in a great spot. This may not be the year we thrust ourselves into the national spotlight, but the culture is changing at North Texas. We’ve got record large donations coming into the program. We’ve got an awesome recruiting class waiting to make their mark. Things are changing and I (and maybe others) need to enjoy the good without worrying about living up to the hype. This has been a great way to start the season. I have no doubt we’ll be in a bowl game somewhere. We’re making progress.

  33. We have a bunch of fans that think G5 undefeated only equates to UCF-undefeated when, in reality, there are tons of examples of teams winning in-spite of many flaws and growing pains. its really frustrating trying to discuss ball with someone who can’t understand the spectrum that exists in this regard, who only believes that a winning program should be blowing people out every single week. we are not there yet. We have depth issues that are haunting us due to injuries. We have coaches that are still learning how to coach. This means we will struggle against the upper tier of CUSA. im enjoying this season still, and I honestly think the 2019 verbals - assuming they sign - will be the first big step we take into the realm of the Boise States and UCFs of the world. Not the arrival, but a big step in that direction. again, we are not there yet. We are vulnerable. But I can still love the college game and support my team.

  34. Even if we would have won by 100 the mainstream would not care. Even if we would have gone 14-0 we would not be in the upper tier of college football. To gain attention from mainstream college football we need eyeballs and deep pockets.

  35. @NorthTexan95 "putrid offense" is definitely new. I just see his body language: someone that doesn't want to be there, eye contact is dodgy, pissed...probably very pissed. But he has always struck me as someone who doesn't want to throw individuals under the bus and/or pass the buck, so he keeps it to the old cliches "I'm proud of...", "at the end of the day...", etc.

  38. Big Willie said in the game thread that it was strange to be so upset about a win and it made me think. Maybe it is crazy but I am more upset after this win than the loss to LaTech. This was an absolutely lackluster performance and it is arguable that Fine should have even played today. Am I the only one?

  39. Yep! -- He started saying "Well, you would have to ask the---" then cut himself off. Also, yeah the road press conferences locations are just some tunnel where they can find a spot. Kind of lame but whatever.

  40. Take the highest finishing opponent that all tied teams played, and see the records. If 1 team beat them and the others lost, the 1 team is champion.

  41. I can't much argue with them since the second quarter began on September 29th. Maybe too many years of "It's a football system, they graded out well," and "Somebody get me my Grey Goose," have me struggling with my college football faith. I don't feel good about the twelve game end prospects right now. We've plummeted from a conference juggernaut to extremely vulnerable.
