MGB: UNT post-spring depth chart, thoughts

Evans up to #2 RB . . . but that may be solely because of Pegram's and Rollins' injuries.

And wait . . . Anthony Wallace didn't crack the depth chart? He may be a good player, but I don't even recall hearing Blake Bean's name before.

EDIT: Okay, here's a thread on Blake Bean:

And his Rivals recruiting page: http://sports.yahoo.com/footballrecruiting/football/recruiting/player-Blake-Bean-145224

Terrell and Kidsy on the outside are backed up by former walkons. Solid players, but Tee Goree and O'Keeron Rutherford will have plenty of opportunities in fall camp. Also should be interesting to see if Turner Smiley can hold off both Fonzale Davis and Jalen Adams as the #2 slot receiver on this team.

Dajon down to 4th

Good to see Freddie Warners name up there

I've been excited about Dilonga from the get go, good to see him at 1st team

No Sir Calvin listed

Interesting to see Antonio Johnson or Ryan Rentfro at Tackle

Happy to see Darius Terrell on there

WR depth should change plenty with the incoming freshman

I imagine the RB depth is due to injuries???

No Anothony Wallace at MLB

Tony Johnson at DS-(injury to Dunham?)

Yes, still rehabbing foot. Cannot as yet go downfield in a sprint to cover for punts, long field goals, etc. can do the XP's which you saw during the spring game. As far as I know, that's still the status from the spring game.

Look for him to be back and competing full speed (hopefully) during fall ball workouts.

No Anthony Wallace is the biggest concern to me. I was really hoping that he would be a big playmaker in the defense this season. But there is still plenty of time for him to work his way on to the field.

Not worried by Dajon at 4. I think coaches will give him plenty of opportunity to move up when he gets healthy. Hopefully him being that low will give him some extra motivation to put in max effort this summer. Although I hope the idea of being qb1 would be all the motivation he needs.

Dajon situation almost looks like an exact repeat of Berglund from last year.

Post Spring Depth Charts are nothing more than Water cooler/Internet Message Board material. They are used to fill up media guides and provide team beat writers with a story or two during the off season. They hold about as much weight as a wet paper towel. They are used by coaches to motivate players. They can point to a position and say "You've got the ability to move up to No. 1 on the depth chart, we just haven't seen the effort."

Stay calm. I've seen players, not on the post spring depth chart, turn into a starer. Some even turn into award winning players.

I thought Flusche did a pretty good job at the spring game. Hopefully he'll add some beef over the summer with several trips down to Fischer's Market. He'll give 100% whatever position he plays.

Bean over Wallace? I thought Wallace played well at the spring game.

It'll be interesting to see how much weight he can put on but I think he could excel at DT.

I don't remember hearing Bean's name at all while I heard Wallace brought up pretty often.

I know there's a lot of talent out there, but that has got to be one of the smallest "listed" defenses I've seen since the 1AA days. Of course size isn't everything, at least not in this context, but we've obviously got a lot of work to do over the next 4 months. God forbid, but a few key defensive injuries could mean putting some serious "smallness" on the field.

I know he played pretty good last year, but 189lbs at lb is too small. I think he has lost weight since being here.

Glad to see minor up there and bean was a surprise in the top two for me as well, but I did hear his name and see him make enough plays to write down his number and look him up on the roster.

The tight ends, I don't worry about Reinhardt or Loving (who I think is hurt) being up there because we play so many. I think T. Smith was 3rd or 4th string last year and I remember seeing him quite a bit.

I agree that this isn't what the depth chart will look like come August.

The weights have not been updated since the fall. I would expect them to change quite a bit when they are released this fall. We need the LB opposite DK to be 215 lbs or more. We need all our DT's that see playing time to weigh at least 270. I don't think that is too much to ask.

Several thoughts:

This is a message to DW to get it together.

Surprised to see Banogu (who??) ahead of Trussell on the 2 deep.

Sid Moore will be starting by conference season, not that it matters if we rotate DL like we did last year.

Shocked not to see Anthony Wallace on the 2 deep out of Spring ball. Is he really that buried on the depth chart or is this another message? Always leery if the big program transfer.

Laramie Lee still list as first team safety with playing in the spring. Interesting.

Lots of jobs still open...

Sed is the size of a strong safety. He could add another 10 before the season, but even if he doesnt, its not too small considering theres several teams that only use 2 LB and 3 safeties with a 4-2-5. K state, tcu, usf, utsa, rice, etc

We are not in the big ten or SEC.

Indiana and Texas are the only teams that will just line up and beat us with thier size.

Agreed. Kidsey is close to 190 now and they have him at 172. Some of those weights were from the Fall.

I don't know how much things have changed, but we seemed significantly bigger than IU when they came to Apogee
