Good News SMU Band will be performing at the game on Saturday

Got it. So when both bands are playing at the same time and the other band is louder I look for the pageantry. Wait, what does pageantry look like in the stands?

I dunno man....typical OU game: 1st down = Boomer Sooner. Dropped pass by opposing team = Boomer Sooner. QB makes an audible at the line of scrimmage = Boomer Sooner.

SMU and OU both have annoying bands...SMUs band plays the same song all the time, playing it softer when the game is going and then louder again after the play ends. OU plays two songs--Boomer Sooner 95% of the time, and "Oklahoma-OK, " the other 5%.

I grade a band by their ability to play songs that the fans like to hear during the game--I'm sure SMU and OU fans like those songs alot (since they hear them all game long). I think our band does a good job of playing stuff during the game that gets the crowd going. I know some on here don't care for Fly Like an Eagle, but it does have tradition here, so I like it still.

That is inaccurate to the modern practice. In the past it was done this way.

Besides being "the best dressed band in the land" the SMU band was (and I hope not still) the most obnoxious band in the land. During parts of the game THEY NEVER SHUT UP! They would drone on and on with that stupid fight song. The only time I've ever prayed for an AK-47.

They used to call themselves "99 guys and a gal" (the only female in the band was the feature twirler) . But I suppose that that is not actually, (not to mention politically), correct any longer. My friends and I used to laugh at how that moniker sounded like the title of a porn movie.

Anyway, the last time I saw the Mustang band, they were not up to their usual musical standards and they weren't as obnoxious.
