For those interested here on some thoughts from last night game against BYU.

North Texas was beat by a far superior TEAM tonight plain and simple. BYU is a well coached well disciplined team and they showed it. There is no shame in losing to a team like that; you just wish UNT could have put together a solid two halves instead of just one

UNT was able to hang with BYU for the first 20 minutes, by attacking the rim and knocking down some open shots. They weren’t really ever able to slow down BYU offense. The Cougars made adjustments to their defense in the middle of the first half and it started to show as they built up a 7 point lead.

What if Benford had had the luxury of taking over a team with some real legitimate talent? Let's say (and I'm just dreaming here) an NBA prospect? Or, for instance, let's get crazy and imagine hypothetically that he took over a team that had had several consecutive winning seasons (many of them 20 win) and even a couple NCAA tournament appearances? Then we would really see what the man could do with some talent and a program on the upswing!

But, alas, all that is a wistful daydream, for mighty Benford was handed a team devoid of any Division I talent at a program that hadn't had a winning season in over a decade. We'll have to give him at least 4-5 years to turn around this disaster of a program he was given.
