I may be wrong, wouldn't be the first time, but I think by losing money, they are referring to schools that don't bring in enough revenue to cover expenses thus having to rely on institutional support and student fees.
Speaking of student fees, in this day and age of escalating tuition, I think if I were a student, I would have a difficult time with the Student Athletic Fee being added to my costs. When I might be struggling or taking out loans for my education, I would wonder why I am also paying a fee when these players are getting the schooling and all costs associated with it for free and they are being paid on top of it.
I thought that was where JJ came from. I agree that he was one of our best defenders ever and hit some clutch threes, but it took him about a year to adjust to the D1 game. I hope it is a PWO and we wait to see who is still out there to add.
Is there a time frame as to when players in the portal have to sign by or is it just a free for all? I know they aren't technically signed until they enroll for classes, but was curious if there was a set signing period or not.
I don't think the current status quo in the transfer portal and NIL is how things are always going to be. It's too much of a trainwreck. Either the Wild West will be tamed or it will be replaced with a bigger trainwreck.
In the meantime a good coach can still put a winning team on the field even if there's no multi-year continuity. Maybe Morris will show that he can take advantage of the chaos. Some coaches at our level will figure it out.
This is hard to believe when you see coaching salaries at most FBS schools. How does a department losing money pay their football coach one million per year? What these departments earn or lose on paper isn't necessarily true. Accountants can work magic.
