As Predicted, Dan Hawkins Is Now Available

That's what I want, a recent failure from CU.

Well, more to the point, if he can't get it done with their resources, and their B-12-enhanced culture, then.........

Before PMG jumps in here to remind me that North Texas WILL HAVE more resources in the near future...we won't have Colorado's resources, and adding more money won't change our culture. How much money does the Dallas Cowboy organization have? How's their culture been doing the last three years?

A dynamic personality with a serious will to change things here, will change our culture.

Now Bill aka Silver Eagle...now don't forget that I, too, haven't forgotten our culture of what most likely won't happen in our lifetimes and the usual directions our culture almost always seems to takes us in other themes.

Yet any friend of former Mean Green Bridgade Marching Band Maurice McAdoo is a friend of mine if our differences on this silly forum haven't affected even that which I hope they haven't. Quite frankly, if our alma mater's culture allows it, I am ready for a hire that everyone will be pleased with so I can start writing sonnets and poetry once again.

Peace...

PS: I still miss Director McAdoo's intro to our school song which I think Winslow took out his first year in 1974. I wish they would restore it.

Least we forget that Hawkins was instrumental in building Boise State to where they are today. But, Hawkins is out of our range financially.

Perhaps, but after CU's buys out the remainder of his contract, he'll be flush with cash...provided he doesn't blow it all on hookers, Coors, and weed on his way out of Boulder.

Maybe, he'd like to keep even our meager contribution to his bank account for a few seasons while he rebuilds his reputation. With his Colorado failure, no AQ will touch him again yet. But, I'd bet he gets some jingles from mid-majors.

I still wouldn't mind having Dirk Koetter's name in the mix as well.

If you are talking about the fanfare, I'm right there with you. I have it on a CD, so if you want it, I can mail one to you.

BTW, "Letsgiveacheer" (a former McAdow assistant) tells me that the fanfare was taken from a Wagner opera.

Yet another tradition at North Texas that was kicked to the curb for God knows what reason.

But then, that's our culture isn't it?

I haven't heard the fanfare, but pulling from a Wagner opera is probably the reason it got removed. While Wagner wrote some beautiful music, his views and the motives behind his music are not exactly the kinds of things we want our university associated with.

You are kidding right? Pulling an intro to our fight song because of the composers views and motives? It is a fight song for goodness sakes, not a wedding march.

Are you familiar with Wagner? Regardless, I'm just speculating with absolutely no fact to back up my theory. Ironically, he did write a rather famous bridal march...

True True Lifer and while Wagner was a pronounced Socialist and a very Anti-Semitic individual I find it hard to believe that people would pull it just for that reason. If abandoning the listening to his work was the societal norm ...then no wedding would play "Here comes the Bride" and Francis Ford Coppolla needs to apologize for plugging "Flight of the Valkyries" into arguably one of the most classic War genre films of all times.

Now....Stay tuned as we resume with our normal broadcasting of football banter.

Just as a side note, there are two very famous bridal marches - one by Wagner and one by Mendelssohn. Both are very common at weddings. And if Francis Ford Coppola has to apologize, so too should Looney Tunes. That rendition of 'Kill the Wabbit' is still one of my favorites.

For those of you who haven't seen it lately, here's a clip of Kill the Wabbit. Bugs won an Oscar for the performance, but I still think Elmer was better.
