AAC scheduling is like the power conferences. The vast majority of games are scheduled on a 6 or 12 day pick. Meaning that unlike CUSA, we will not know what the kickoff time or network will be until a week or 2 before. The networks are going to pick the most appealing matchups for that week and give them better kickoff times and networks. Win and get games on an ESPN linear network, lose and get used to ESPN+ school produced games. We're going to get 11am or 2:30pm kickoffs in September and Thursday and Friday night games, so get ready.

If it's a rivalry that both teams acknowledge it will be UTSA. If it's one that we have that is actually more of a grudge game than a rivalry it would be SMU

Wins @UTEP. TX Southern, @UNLV, FAU, La Tech, FIU, and Rice. Losses--SMU, @Memphis, @UTSA, @WKU, and @UAB We beat 7 complete spares, lose to anyone with a pulse, mostly in blowout fashion. SL gets his extension for making it to 7 wins for 3 years beyond his last season on his current contract. The very best thing that could happen here is to get to 6 losses in the regular season--otherwise, SL will come back...and the best thing that can happen here is to have him leave to go be an OC at some P5 for the rest of his career.

Thought I’d start a thread for all scheduling news and rumors for basketball. As of now: @ Buffalo (part 2 of a home and home) VS UMASS *Neutral in Springfield MA* NOT CONFIRMED BUT A SERIES: @/vs Nevada, was scheduled to be here last year but was cancelled due to BS Covid pullout from Nevada. Was slated to be in Reno this upcoming season. @/vs UTA, it’s been a series for a very long time, I assume it’ll happen again. Very high chances. Rumored: @/vs Oklahoma State, heard a rumbling about a possible game against Oklahoma State? Would be nice. Be on the lookout for a MTE/neutral site in the coming weeks against a solid team. Should be more down the road, but quite a few teams have turned down the opportunity to play us. Unfortunately teams don’t want to lose to us, and we aren’t a buy game anymore. I expect 2 P5 teams and a solid schedule in general, like usual from Mac. Drop any information/news if y’all have any, would be nice to see.

As far as I'm concerned all are rivals. The only ones that we've never been in a conference with are SMU, South Florida, East Carolina, Navy and Temple. I believe that we have played all of them except Temple (not positive about ECU). We've also been in the same conference with Wichita State. So this is where we belong. I consider all of the Texas universities as our strongest rivals...the two strongest are SMU and UTSA and Rice could be if they ever decide to put some of their plenteous money supply into their football team. In order that we enter the AAC with respect, I believe that we need to win 8 games, and that includes a bowl win. If Seth is able to accomplish that then I would give him a one-year extension. If he can do it again in the AAC then I say give him a new contract.

It appears I like Coach Littrell more than the majority of posters here. Like someone said earlier in the thread, he’s good enough that the season won’t be a disaster, but unfortunately there’s not much reason for excitement either. I’d say we’re looking at 5 or 6 wins.

CLEVELAND – KD Davis was named to Phil Steele’s 2022 Preseason All-American Fourth Team; the publication announced this week. After a stellar 2021 campaign, KD Davis was one of two Conference USA players to be named a Preseason All-American. He totaled 121 tackles, 13.0 TFLs and 5.5 sacks with two fumble recoveries. He started all 13 games at middle linebacker and earned First Team All-CUSA honors in the coaches’ poll. Ten members of the team were also named to the Preseason All-Conference USA teams. Oscar Adaway, John Davis, KD Davis, and Manase Mose received first team honors. John Davis totaled 18 tackles with an interception and four pass breakups in 10 appearances, nine of which were starts. Mose earned second team All-CUSA honors from the coaches in 2021. Adaway missed last season due to injury. Defensive tackle Roderick Brown was named to the second team. Offensive tackle Cole Brown and linebacker Larry Nixon were both recognized on the third team. Running back Isaiah Johnson, offensive guard Gabe Blair and wide receiver/punt return specialist Roderic Burns garnered fourth team accolades. The Mean Green open the 2022 season on Aug. 27 in El Paso against UTEP at 8 p.m. (CT) on Stadium.

Without knowing what we’re getting from the QB position, game by game predictions are tough but I’d agree with this except WKU. Rice may depend on what’s on the line that game. Here’s my over the top prediction- everything depends on the UTEP game. We show we can go on the road and beat a decent team I think it sets a tone. Lose and we’re staring down five wins max.

Funny that smut fans can’t seem to stay off our board when they don’t consider us a rival. There are many more of their fans than fans from any other school.

1 - Ourselves

Stayed at the new Resorts World Las Vegas last week and it was really nice. Allegiant is really nice as well...very reminiscent of AT&T. They're just going to have a ton of empty seats. Their old place was a dump, but it's usually sad to see teams play in these massive stadiums with small crowds.

It's easy. Step 1: Acknowledge rivalry with SMU Step 2: oops, no more room for another rival. Step 3: UTSA games are still fun, though!

SMU My fandom understanding is that you can only have one rival in each sport, so that's it.

I'm a Marriott points whore too and we've got our party of 10 guys staying at the Marriott Grand Château right off the Strip. It's pretty much across the street from the Cosmopolitan. They have accommodations up to 3 bedroom villas and 2200 square feet if you're going with several people.

My goodness this crowd is negative.

The season will rely on QB play and health. If one of our QB’s can separate themselves, this team can win 6-7 games. The receivers would need to stay healthy, though. Despite the DL losses, overall I believe a 2nd year with PB will see improvement. The RB room looks to be stacked! Aside from the one transferring OL loss, the OL should see growth under Clements. I don’t think I have the green glasses on….🤷🏽‍♂️🤷🏽‍♂️🤷🏽‍♂️

I have to admit, I have been skeptical about football at UNT, but the other sports have been stellar as of late. I think we have every right to be stoked about entry into the AAC. In particular I like this quote from Aresco: "Our incoming schools comprise a distinguished group with attributes that will enhance our conference's Power 6 goals." This conference absolutely give us the opportunity to attain P5 status if we play our cards right. We could very possibly follow schools like Houston and UCF into the Big 12 eventually which should be our goal. This conference is a big step up from the Belch and C-USA and we should be excited about the future.

4-8 and a new head coach for Christmas

I booked Fri-Sun through our MGM account at Bellagio. There were already some decent comps available. If the market goes 101% to hell long term after a 75bp or 100bp rate hike at Wednesday's Fed meeting they may be giving away hotel rooms by Sept on the Strip. At minimum make sure you can cancel your hotel reservation so you can rebook for a cheaper rate.
