  1. Mosaic glass tile SOW my former boss made for me. Given to me as a table top but I decided to backlight it with LEDs and hang it in the back yard.

  2. Yah, pretty naive. Bet if your kid or grandkid was a 1st or 2nd round grade and had guaranteed $$ on the table your tune would be a little different. Seen too many kids that were those high grades get hurt playing in the potandteakettle bowl that meant nothing and lost everything. If college football could figure out a way to expand to 16/32 team playoff then you’d see less of this IMO, but the pointless bowls will continue to produce guys that sit out because they don’t want to possibly impact a family changing amount of $.

  5. I don't blame the kid. Play in a meaningless Peach Bowl that people will not remember with the risk of getting hurt, or sit out and protect your draft stock.

  6. I thought it was a joke. Yikes how embarrassing to be that delusional But seriously, why would UH settle for Holgerson? Why not go get Lincoln Riley or Nick Saban or Dabo Sweeny?

  7. I can’t believe people complain about too much college football. I just can’t...I’m a junkie and love all of them. Will watch lower level playoffs, will tailgate at a spring game. Eat drinks sleep college sports and tomorrow old trafford. I do football 🏈 and futbol ⚽️. GMG

  8. On the other hand, an outstanding performance may increase their draft stock, and so much for the concept of team ball.

  9. Risk millions of dollars and your family's future on a exhibition game? No thanks. If people don't like it, then raise the stakes of these bowl games; create a real championship.

  12. The venue looks great. If we are looking for something to complain about, having a track around the soccer field isn’t exactly ideal, but that would be the only thing. I do hope that in the longer term the soccer team gets its own standalone venue.

  21. This will be the story of the season. It will cause foul trouble, however the coaches knew this early and said it would happen at the football games up top. They adjust with depth, fronting, and playing heavy D off the call. The players have bought into it.

  22. Simple solution, if you think there are too many bowl games, just don't watch them. It is fairly simple to identify the bowls that have the top teams and those that don't. There may not be much prestige in getting invited to a lower level bowl, but it easily beats staying at home. As far as upping the necessary win total, never going to happen. As much as I hate the P5 mentality, there is no logic in making a 6-6 SEC team stay home and having a 7-5 Belt team in a bowl. I was around to see a 10-1 Fry NT team sit home as well as some very good NT teams of the late sixties. Yes, those were the good ole days, when bowls were more exclusive.

  23. He’s already a millionaire whose current value isn’t dependent on top physical prowess. College players transitioning to the NFL have such a small window to make it happen. Even then, the average NFL career is like 2-3 years. Make your money while you can. School spirit and all that is great, but at a certain point you have to make a business decision.

  25. If you were graduating with a degree and were guaranteed a job after graduation with a good salary, would you re-enroll for 3 more hours just for the heck of it? Not quite the same thing, and I struggle with the letting down your team aspect, but a head coach would leave in a heartbeat to take advantage of more $ with less to lose.

  26. Jaylon Smith changed my mind about this. These kids' have an opportunity to set their families up in perpetuity. That's a lot to risk for an exhibition.

  31. Auburn under Malzahn has been doing the huddle for years. They call it a muddle huddle. We run too many power plays in these situations, almost exclusively. We can't do that. It's slow developing and leaves a hole unattended due to a pulling tkl or guard. The pulling lineman is also a huge key read for defenses. Also doesn't help we do it almost in all short yardage situations, so the D knows it's coming.

  35. The confidence Woolridge plays with was key to keeping us from unraveling midway through the 1st half. What a stud! This is a resilient bunch with a winning mentality. Sure to be an exciting ride in conference play. Go Mean Green

  44. I'd say we should just simplify it down to "The Pit", rather than trying to name it the "Mega Pit" or something, but now that I know that there are other schools (at least UNM) which call their BB venue "the pit", maybe we need to just wait for a new "organic" name after the place is built.

  45. A couple stand out and I can't do just one: A game ball from a game we won signed by the captains after I recovered a fumble that led to us winning the game. I got player of the week that week and later special teams player of the year. Both surprised me. (Especially the plaque at the banquet.) We won our conference too. My Dad got to see the game ball before he died a few weeks later. Really cool. That season led to another cool item which was a conference champion ring. I really like a flag I had framed. But I really love a little t-shirt both my minions wore that almost ended up at Goodwill but ended up framed too. (My wife played soccer at UNT so I get away with pretty much anything UNT related.) Lastly, the Mrs. and I both have North Texas diplomas. We were both on scholarship, Letterman every year we played, we still have our letter jackets, and technically got paid to go to college at NT. Love my Mean Green!
