Week 2 observations

Greer had a few ducks but finished 9-12 for 81 yards in half a game. He did have a beautiful throw called back due to a penalty.

McNulty, nothing bad nothing great, I'd say he had a McNulty type of game.

DW had a great run, didn't get to chuck the rock.

Penalties. I bet Mac is piisssssssed.

O-line was dominating in the run game today. Hopefully Ybarbo is ok. Banugu stepped in at tackle and played well.

RB's...wow. We are loaded. Jeffrey Wilson is going to be good! Peagram is just solid. jimmy really pisses me off sometimes but had a couple decent runs. Great to see Evans get in there. Didn't see Ivory tonight.

Special teams were very special. Great night for Trevor Moore!

Who handles kickoffs? They were getting pinned deep and in the corner almost every time. And the coverage units had some great open field tackles.

Glad we won the turnover battle. That's north texas football right there.

DL played a good game. Weren't getting much pressure with just a 4 man rush but when the heat came it seemed to work.

Buyers got burned a few times deep, one was caught and got flagged another. But all in all a great night for the DBs. Lee and Wade are a great duo back there.

Lbs were all over the place!

And F June Jones for not taking his beating like a man. Going for it on 4th down on his win 15 with a minute left. Throwing a hail marry when down 40+.

Is no one going to mention the earth shaking hit that Derek Akunne laid? It set the physical tone for the rest of the game. Also caused a turnover and got the student/young alum section going crazy.

Alum side needs to step up. I know the early kickoff caused some to miss but damn that was kind of a bad showing. Good thing the other side is shown mainly on tv.

Jimmerson getting the ball on an off tackle dive on 1st and goal from the 1, turning sideways and running for the sideline, getting tackled at the 4 rated him being benched for the remainder of the game in my book.

Maddening.

Agree, tired of seeing him dance when he needs to hit the hole hard. (get your mind out of the gutter)

Jimmy needs to be a specialist type of running back. 3rd down, if we get behind, or to throw unexpected screens to on 1st & 2nd down. He stutters in the hole too much for a between the tackles back. Leave that to Peagram and Wilson.

No that's Evans. Jimmy needs to get his head out of his rear and run downhill and hit the HR when it's there. He needs to quit trying to hit the HR every stinking time he touches the ball

Considering it was a home opener, considering it was our first home game after coming off a bowl win, and considering it was SMU, I would definitely say yes. I never would have believed that this matchup in a home opener would have an actual attendance under 25k.

I saw a lot of improvement yesterday and my earlier comment still holds. I believe that we will be better in October than we are in September and that we will be better in November than we will be in October. Our inexperienced kids are good athletes who just need to play in some games to get a lot better. This is especially true at the quarterback position. We will sit here in November and wonder which bowl game we will be going to. Hang in there, folks.......hang in there.

If the game had been at night, it would have been a sellout or close to it.

But other thoughts,

Wilson looks fast and quick, Jimmerson needs to watch his back, he's about to lose playing time.

Greer looked much better and more mobile than I expected.

The defense reminded me of our early 2000's D where we gave a little bit early but once we figured out what you were trying to do, we just shut you down.

Special teams were the best I've ever seen for us on coverage.

Trevor Moore, WOW!
