A$M WR may transfer

COLLEGE STATION Texas A&M freshman receiver Thomas Johnson has withdrawn from school, Aggies coach Kevin Sumlin said this afternoon.

Johnson disappeared for two days in mid-November. A&Ms police department had asked for help from the public in finding Johnson, who failed to show for an Aggies practice on the Monday following A&Ms 29-24 win at Alabama on Nov. 10. He was found in the wee hours of Nov. 15 near his high school, Dallas Skyline. Days later, Sumlin said Johnson was with his family.

Sumlin, in meeting with reporters this afternoon, said Johnson will mull his options moving forward options that might even include re-enrolling at A&M or perhaps transferring.

Johnson, one of the nations top recruits at his position a year ago, had 30 catches for 339 yards and a touchdown in Sumlins up-tempo offense this season. Johnson had three catches for 22 yards in the upset of the then-top-ranked Crimson Tide before disappearing two days later.

I was thinking this might happen, and couldn't help but hope that he might come to UNT.

Hey, maybe he was just home sick, I don't know. Either way we'd take him in a heart beat.

UNT is a really good option for players who want to be close to home, yet be out of their parents shadows enough. I hope he is able to take care of what might've caused that incident to happen, but I really hope his talent doesn't go to waste.

I said this before and I'll say it again, Skyline is a program that we need to recruit the heck out of.

Look at our De Soto pipeline. There is no way we get a 4-star transfer like Darius Terrell if we hadn't reeled in their "lower-rated" prospects in Zach Orr and Jimmerson.

My point is, players at these big time programs are able to compete usually from day 1 after having to earn spots from other D-1 players, even if they weren't 5, 4, or even 3 stars.

Also, they can sway their higher-rated high school buddies over here if things don't workout at x school and they want to come back home. We unfortunately don't have this advantage with Johnson.

Apparently he's coming to Houston and will file an NCAA waiver to be immediately eligible. If true, Johnson, along with Minnesota transfer Barker in addition to our already solid receiving corps lead by 5-star recruit Greenberry will be nasty this upcoming season.
That would be absolute BS for his waiver to be passed by the NCAA, if this is the truth.

His only case for a waiver to play immediately would be to say that he was home sick and it caused him to "run away" from college or whatever he did, so his appeal would only make sense if he was transferring to a Dallas area school.

Since he is going to Houston his waiver shouldn't pass or else this will open up the flood gates for freshman who don't like the school they end up at to just run away then choose whatever school they want and they'll be allowed to play there immediately.

Bowl-less again nasty? Or another, you're not still blithering on about false Houston hopes on a North Texas message board, kind of nasty?
