---And there is worse news........ Their next game is Univ. of Texas (the Austin version) .

Oh the pain...... I am sure their players and coaches are looking forward to that one. If Buffalo can hang 42 on them just think what UT can do...!!!

Just remember what ol' Schnelly said, the Whorns are just a bunch of softies! I'm sure UTEP will be fine.

The MAC isn't as impotent as most are led to believe, I think teams like Temple, Buffalo, Ball State, and especially Central Michigan may surprise some people this year. Doesn't necessarily mean BCS-crashing like Hawaii or Boise State, but I'm expecting some more powerful mid-major teams to go home disappointed.

---Looks as if the "shine" on Mike Price (UTEP coach) has been tarnished a bit. He started at 8-4 in 2004, followed by 8-4 then 5-7, and 4-8. Now this happened, Buffalo may better but they have been the joke of NCAA football for quite a while.

1999 Craig Cirbus 0 - 11

2000 Craig Cirbus 2 - 9

2001 Jim Hofher 3 - 8

2002 Jim Hofher 1 - 11

2003 Jim Hofher 1 - 11

2004 Jim Hofher 2 - 9

2005 Jim Hofher 1 - 10

2006 Turner Gill 2 - 10

2007 Turner Gill 5 - 7

Maybe CUSA should have added North Texas instead of UTEP .... Only Kent State and Florida International ( with a very short history) has a worse winning percentage than UTEP. Buffalo is even 1% better. UTEP has had only 9 winning seasons in the past 50 years.

North Texas --- 464 - - 423 -- 33 -- .522

Univ Buffalo --- 389 -- 456 -- 28 -- .429

Texas-El Paso --- 352 -- 509 -- 28 -- .411

Kent St. (OH) --- 297 -- 476 -- 28 -- .388

Florida Inter. --- 016 -- 052 -- 00 -- .235

Beat me to it, and thanks for posting. I was also going to point out just how bad Buffalo has been. If Gill leads them to a winning record, and he nearly did it in only his second year, it would be one of the greatest turnaround stories in quite some time.

And, again, here's another program that was basically started from scratch. They abandoned football altogether in 1970. Then brought it back in 1977, went D-IAA in 1994 and D-IA in 1999. It'd be a big story if Turner Gill, um, turns them around.
